Is this Swift a good deal?

I have a short video for you taken in garden, I will upload it for you.

On the field today I was flying the Swift while the T-Rex 600 was recharging and was flying well with some wind, I need to add neg pitch so when the wind catches and takes it up, you can hold the height without dropping the head speed, was never a problem in the garden !!

You were saving money for your first Swifts electronics as I remember !

This is how I ended with 2 Swifts, just bought the full kit and one came up on e bay, with electronics ( 3 jr servos, 401 gyro and 9254 servo, PCM RX) put in a bid while it was low and won it at £310 !! well, the 401 and servo is £160, batt £100 3 servos £30 Rx £75 so the kit was free! but that was cheap !!!

Er seems a good deal to me. I'd be tempted if I had the cash.

But my raptor just slid into the ground from about 1ft very annoying
to say the least espically after it was rebuilt. only main blades and double
link broke. Should be flying again in a few days.

Thats right, I was saving for the electronics and planned to buy tomorrow.
As you say, if the battery 'Is as' then it seems like a pretty good deal to me, I could just use the electronics & carbon blades and use the rest for spares as I'm not really interested in having two swifts up and running.

I normally wouldnt touch a second hand battery with a bargepole though, although it could be worth the risk.

You certainly got a good deal though! This is the first 'Used' Swift I've encountered on ebay as yet.

Well, me and a mate have...He gets the barebones heli and i get everything else including both motors.
By the way what neg pitch are you set at? I have Mine set at -3 normal flying, ditto for idle up1 and -9 for idle up 2.

idel up 2 is the same as normal incase I flip the switch the wrong
way!

Yes, 2 short hovers in garden.... I will add some more but they are so big and I have to cut them down so much !! I have -5 to +9 for normal flight, I like to get it dowm with a gust of wind without loosing head speed, but still playing with settings. The 600 set the same.

Disc, thats a mighty fine idea regarding the idle up switch.
What about your throttle curves?

I'm sure I've asked this question before so I do apologise!!!

I have a linear curve on normal, ie 0-100 over the 5 points and on idle up1 I have pretty much 90% across the board.
Idle2 is 100 at each end and 60 in the centre, with points 2 and 4 inhibited.
I have set the linear curve on normal mode purely for safe 'Spool up /spool down' and plan to switch to idle2 as soon as in the hover and for flying around.

Listen to me the expert ;-) havent even flown it yet!
I've set these this way as I've been warned never to fly around with a linear curve setting as the motor will mainly be running outside of the 85% efficiency range and there have apparently been issues with the CC esc's burning out because of it.
I guess I'm a sucker for a good horror story! Maybe I just worry too much and read too much into the forum 'Nasties'
I just like to get things perfect I guess, although I do realise a lot more of the setting up will come from actually flying the thing!

Martin, thanks for the vids. It looks and sounds great.
I didnt go for the servos, he wanted silly money and to be honest I would rather spend the hard earned on a second lipo for now.
I'm collecting the CC USB interface and Cellpro charger from Aurorra tomorrow. I have a rare weekend off coming up, so if the heli arrives on time I'll be flying saturday... wahoo!

I will have to play with idle 1, set for less wind conditions maybe, not set for inverted just yet I am playing with higher neg at low stick it get good height control in wind, with the throttle I am trying 50% at point 2, 70% at 3, 85% at 4 100% at 5 so when in normal flight I can go neg without loosing all the head speed but I am still playing with settings. I have that inbuilt reaction that will be hard to lose, it is to drop the throttle stick if it all gets out of hand, not good in idle 1 set to -10 with 90% power

another pet hate of training skids... it trains you to chop the power rather than get it up, not good.

I must admit, I dont just 'Chop' the power any more, I prefer to power out of trouble if I can. I've found the crash risks are greatly reduced this way, having astounded myself with some of my recoveries!!

Having cut two booms off my Raptor I decided early on this wasnt the way to do it!!!

I am tempted to fit training skids to the swift for the maiden flight though, as much as I hate them.

The training sticks not used after the Eco 8 and I too don't just cut the power, It's the thought of doing it in blind panic, however with loads of hours on the Swift and over two hours on the 600 already I have never needed to ! Ok this weekend I will set up idle 1 to -9 to +9 and see how we go....

Bonus is I've just bought a second hand one locally on a very similar deal but only standard motor, standard ESC, no Rx battery, but it has cyclic servos and a tail servo, wood blades but I have some old NHP Razors from my Nexus that I think will be OK.

You kept that one quiet you devious swine haha!
I bought it with 7 mins left ;-) Worked out just fine as my mate wanted the heli and I wanted the gubbins in it, oh & the blades.

You should be okay with those blades as long as they're not under 520mm and not over 560mm or 580mm cant remember which, but bear in mind the swift bladegrip holes and bolts are 3mm diameter mate.
Depending on the size of your blade root holes you may have to buy the spacer sleeves for the holes to reduce to 3mm... Unless you open the holes in the bladegrips to 4mm and find suitable bolts?? Could be a safety issue though.... You got one in the end thats the main thing! welcome to the club.
