  • TX swap and Bind question

    Hi There,

can one just re bind a heli to another tx without any issues (same type of Tx). I want to re-bind my heli to a different DX7 but as far as I can see, all of the servo positions read back differently with the other TX. I have made sure that both TX's are set exactly the same without touching the subtrims, but it would seem that all of the servo positions are wrong with the aletrnative Tx.

Any recommendatioins to make this easy?

    cherrs

I would have thought you could.
That said I have gone from a DX6i to a DX7 and found that there were some differences in servo center positions and servo throw direction.
I was puzzled by this but just reset the arms etc until all was well and didn't pay it any more attention.
At the field we have managed to copy settings over from one DX7 to another and the model was exactly the same. i.e. no differences at all.

Subject to the receivers and transmitters being compatible, yes you can bind to multiple receivers and/or transmitters.

However, all of the heli settings (reverser postions, gyro settings, pitch, throttle curves etc.) are stored in the Tx. Binding one heli to a different Tx will not change the settings stored in the Tx.

I'm guessing you already know this but hey, it don't hurt to re-state it.

Strange, I bound to a new DX7 and it would not work with the original one any more until I had re-bound it.

To answer the quesries; both Tx's are set exactly the same apart from one can see that the servo positions are different.

Once bound, the servos are in completely the wrong positions and I guess this can only be rectified using the sub trims right?

The Rx will only work with the TX it is currently bound with. I.e it won't work with the Tx it was previously bound with having been re-bound to the newer one.
If you think about this it makes complete sense since you only ever want the Rx controlled by a single Tx.
Are ou sure that both Txs are set exactly the same?
Are servo reverses set the same? Is the swash mix set exactly the same?
Any trim or/and sub-trims set the same?

                  That seems wrong.

I could imagine a small amount of difference due to errors in stick centre-ing or such, but not a lot.

Travel adjust will also make a difference. Are you sure you've got all the settings identical ?

I'm intending to move helis back and forth betwen 2 DX7s. I've not actually done it yet, but I'm not expecting it to involve much more than copying settings.
