If you're using a BEC, why not drive that off the main battery ?

      I dont know !!

I thought the BEC is a seperate circuit and battery and is to make sure you had plenty of juice for the servos if the main ones dump.

Im all ears if ive picked that up wrong

        BEC is 'battery elimination circuitry'.

The fundamental idea is that rather than having a separate battery for Rx, servos, etc, a BEC allows these to be powered from the main motor battery.

There may be good reasons for doing it differently, but in the absence of those, I'd use a BEC & the main battery.

NB you may find that some BECs won't go above 4S (or such), so this is worth looking at, as well as what current you're likely to draw.

On my T-Rex 500 I used a Castle Creations 10a BEC which I connected direct to the battery.

On my T-Rex 600E I used a Flight Power 2S 1200mah Lipo connected to a Duralite Regulator, which then connected to the RX to give it power.

So it could be a question of do you want to have an extra lipo and wether your BEC will support your current main battery pack voltage.
