Buzzfly SE Motor

Hello everyone. I'm very new to RC Helicopters and my first purchase was a Buzzfly SE. I've had it about 6 weeks now and have had very little use out of it due to work etc. However within about a week of it arriving I found it was struggling for lift. After some quick checks by myself and a phone call to Byzzflyer it was established that the main motor was on it's way out. They posted a new motor to me free of charge which I thought was very sporting. Tonight however after only one flight on a fresh battery it's once again struggling for lift and I'm once again suspecting the main motor. I should point out that I've not had any heavy crashes as I've been gingerly bobbing above the living room floor. I've had the odd ding but certainly nothing serious.
So my question then is am I just unlucky or are there any known issues with this model? I have to admit I'm currently considering asking for my money back.
Any input would be greatly appreciated.

The motors are rubbish.

Walkera do a brushless version which solves most of these motor problems.

Are you sure its the motor and not the battery/charger?

I'm pretty sure it's the motor to be honest though I'll check again tomorrow. Last time I checked the voltage both on and off load and it's seemed to be about right.

Where would I buy a brushless version of this motor then? I take it such problems are unusual in the rc helicopter scene?

Whilst I agree Walkera really have a problem with their motors....I would say on this occasion check the motor teeth are not tight against the main gear....if they are just back them off slighty and see if that cures it.

Otherwise complain as these new motors are hideously crap...

...I'm actually waiting until all mine are bust...should'nt take long.. then I'll upgrade to the Brushless...as I get so much fun out of my Buzzflyers...

The motors aren't good but they should last longer than this.

Check everything is in line, paddles etc. It doesn't take much to lose the lift Also if you've been hammering the motors for a full batt at a time with no respite it will kill them quickly as they can overheat. Also if you have been doing the same to the batts until the model will no longer fly the batts get toasted

I had the same problem with mine, it was struggling for lift and I suspected the battery. I had lift to start off with and then after only a minute it couldnt drag itself off the floor. I ordered a new motor, one of the upgraded ones for the se, mine is just a buzzflyer and that was superb after that. I was getting a good 10min hover when it was new. The gears should have a little backlash, ie small gap between drive gears otherwise too much load will be on the motor, this will result in reduction in back EMF and allow an increased current to flow effectivly burning out the motor.
