All down to the owner m8!! and what gets me is that unlike this idiot in most cases most owners i find start to call there dogs back just to make you think that they care if nothing else......but in fact they've already seen you and could have taken control over the pest at an earlier time when walking towards you when you were busy flying/hovering.

They have no idea whats so ever of how dangerous and how much damage a (toy!!!) model helicopter can do to there mutt until it happens , and then they would have no hesitation of dragging said pilot/person to court........you get all sorts walking there dogs

YOU only did what a real dog lover would have done.......him well!

And owner got a stern talking to from his mate for not having her on a lead.

Dogs may be tame, but underneath is still a wild animal, and it's the responsibility of the owner to make sure they don't go doing things they shouln't so he should have seen your heli or heard it, and promptly put the dog on a lead till they were safely away from you. You've seen my vid from Rainham? A couple of dogs came over to us then, thankfully to us not the heli, and between flights for which I was glad.
Thanks John I do feel abit better this morning but still cant get them awfull cries out of my head.

Back in the early 70's, I was teaching myself to fly on a heli built from plans! I'd got to the stage where I could get it off the deck, stagger round a rather untidy circuit, and land it, but I was by no means a competent or confident pilot at that stage.

I was flying in some council playing fields, which were usually empty on week-days. I'd been there about an hour, and was the only person in sight, when out of nowhere, this dog appeared and kept trying to jump up and grab the heli whilst I was trying to land it!

I went round another circuit, hoping the dog would give up, but no, it was still there waiting on my next approach!

By now I was getting rattled - as well as low on fuel - so this time I flew off very slowly, with the dog in hot pursuit. Once I'd got a reasonable distance away, I turned the heli round and dashed back to my landing point. The dog couldn't keep up, and I managed to get the heli down (rather heavily, but intact) before the dog got back! It ran up to the heli - which was still spooling down - yapping like mad! I was about to go and shoo it off when I was wacked from behind by an umbrella! There was a little old lady yelling at me to "get that thing away from my dog!" and threatening to call the police!

Luckily the dog never got close enough to the heli to injure itself. I rounded on the little old lady and invited her to carry out her threat to call the police. I pointed out that there were no bye-laws about flying helis in the field, but there were clear signs that "dogs must be kept on a leash"! I hinted that if she didn't stop interfering with my legitimate activities, I would press charges against her!

At this point she gathered up her pooch and left.

Luckily I now belong to a club that has its own site, and I can look back on the incident and laugh about it! But flying in public spaces is the only option for some. *If you are in the right*, you should be prepared to stand up for your rights. If you don't, you not only disadvantage yourself, but you also set a precedent that could disadvantage others.

I understand what your saying but if you herd the cries your thoughts would have been for the dog he was in agony I gave him as much comfort as I could but the owner just didn't give a T*ss, after awhile I did manage to get the dog back on his feet which made me feel abit better once he started walking althrough with a limp.

As all the guys have said your not too blame in the slightest, however being a pet owner and animal lover I can understand where your coming from mate.

The poor dog didn't understand the danger he was next to, you done all you could within the limited capacity of flying your 500 at the same time, and it was the owner who was to blame 100%!

He should be paying for your blades IMO... he also obviously doesnt care too much about his dog to let it run towards a potentially lethal object. I wouldnt worry too much about it mate, the dogs fine and thats all that matters really. Im sure you'll be out flying again real soon. You done everything in your power unlike the owner. Sounds like you care more about his dog than he does TBH. Chin up bud

i remember when my german shepard was about 3 and i was taking him for a run on the field. my dog is really friendly with every1 and other dogs and this one time he seen another dog and went to play with it. he was playing really good with each other but they both ended closer to the other dog owner than they was to me and to my horror i saw give my dog a few licks with his chain lead. i couldnt believe what i was seeing and the only thing the other owner seen when i got to him was stars and little tweedy birds flying round when i knocked him clean out.

if my dog got hit by an rc helicopter then it would be my fault and nobody elses. the dogs owner to the dog that got hurt by your heli is an idiot so get yourself flying again cuz it wasnt your fault

oh another time i took my mates rotty out because he was working away. i never let it off the lead because it wasnt my dog and was worried about it attacking some1/another dog/ or running off and finding a road somewhere and getting run over.

anyway half way through the walk with buster the rotty still on the lead i see another dog bolting towards us and this dog is all over my mates rotty attacking and biting it. i tell buster to leave it and to my amazement he did and just stood there carried on getting bitten. i tried to get the other dog off buster and when i did it turned on me and i had some nasty bites to my hands. anyway this lasted about 5 mins untill buster yelped and i thought thats it and told buster to get it. he did instantly on command and when the other dog was an inch from death the other dog owner turnerd up. if it was a bloke and not a woman then they would have been seeing stars aswell.
                      cheers

Similar story here but thankfully no harm done to dog or heli. I was flying at my 'other' site with the 700 when a gormless idiot decided to trot right across the field with his dog. Happens all the time even though there are rope boundries, signs, and a big bloody heli in the air!!!!! I would be devastated if my 700 chopped a dog to pieces............it would take forever to clean it!! (Just a joke, I love dogs).
