have you flown it before?
+-12 is way too much for a beginner (you;re into full banging 3d pitch range there)
if you are just learning to hover 0 degrees at bottom stick and 9 at high (in case you get in trouble, a common thing when this happens to beginners is to pull the throttle down hard in panic... if its at 0 degrees it will do less damage.)
as you progress a bit to moving the heli around in a hover then put on about -2 at low stick and keep high stick at 9
progressing further to circuits and figure 8s -4 +9

well i was always told to mechanically set it up for +10/-10 on my raptor and then to calm it down from the tx , my 450 is set up for full 3d but calmed down .on the TX....
Its alot easier to chnge some settings on the TX than go over your mechanical set up again
