Anyone ever had one of them days when you could do with a job but can't get one??

Luckily not me (at the moment), but there are a lot of people in that situation.

Don't state the obvious. All hobbies cost a lot of money if you are serious about it. Some people are spoilt with free gear every now and then. Unfortunately i'm not one of them.

I recommend you put it back to 6S until you can afford to run it.

you have 2 amazing helis for 50 quid a week there........thats for damn sure.

what you need to do is priorotise. your best bet if you really want an electric heli is sell that 600e and buy a logo 500 or outrage 550 and use the 6s packs. doing so will cost you less than changing to 8s for a similar power to weight ratio.

alternatively, this may sound harsh, get another job until your skillset allows you enough pocket money to have 1 job and fund yourself. you only get 50 quid a week but what about working overtime? saturday job? like everyone has to do that went to uni/college/school.

        cheers

How do we know Shay is 15??

If he is & has two helis like that & upgrading to 8S -

Horses for courses, cutting the cloth to suit, be sensible, 8S - why??? , shouldn't there be a sense of proportion here??

Sorry Shay, I do not mean to belittle what you are doing. Best of luck to you. But to be building a 450 & upgrading a 600 to 8s at 15 is something a bit different. And then to be saying you only get £50 a month.

Those of us with jobs have to balance the cost of helis with other costs of life. That's why I am thinking hard about a leccy 500 or 550 as I have to justify the spending to myself, even though I can afford it.

If I had a leccy 600 6s I'd stick with it unless I was a really good pilot and needed 8s for competitions.

It really is a bit like saying I can't afford a new engine for my Ferrari as I only get £500 a week!

Anyway, the only way is to save by the sounds of it. What is more important? Building a 450 or 8s for the 600?

                      Cheers

All credit to Shay for managing to save the money to start out with such an expensive hobby in the first place

When I was racing RC cars I couldnt work at the weekends as I was racing, but I worked every holiday (for about £3p/h) and funded my racing that way.
Eventually I got some sponsorship when I was about 16 and that helped with the cost.

When I was racing at nationals I was using a new motor every weekend plus several sets of tires so a weekend might cost almost £100.

Although I could spend lots of money on helis im happy to stick to my 4#3B for the moment. That way no matter how much damage I do I wont lose very much money in a crash.

I dont really understand the advantage of upgrading to 8C, but I wouldnt spend all your money on upgrades. You should keep some money in reserve incase you crash or have a part fail. If you cant afford to repair your heli then you wont be able to fly at all!!

                          Hi David Drew,

6S is just not enough for a t-rex 600, you need more power to get through manouvers like big ben, london eye and wheel of fortune.

that is why i have gone 8S .

                          cheers

No probs Shay. But you have picked a really expensive hobby.

                            I've just ordered a Cellpro 10s, a 4s pack & 2 x 3s packs. And that wasn't cheap! Can't imagine trying to fund an 8s conversion on £50 a month.

But hey, that's the route you've chosen & if you can fly those manouvers then you are serious about helis. I suppose what I mean is just don't complain about not having enough cash to do it all. Very few of us have enough to do anything we want when we want it.

With the Scorpion 4025-1100 you can do those on 6S......but make sure you have STRONG packs.
