None grease based as it warps plastic, use something water based like vaseline but beware making a grinding paste as this will chew your plastics too
    Nik.

    Before you ask:

    About 2 miles
    Over £500
    Very difficult
    Over 80mph
NO, you can't have a go

Don't forget the 'Search' and 'Thanks' buttons.

Generally shielded bearings are packed with grease when they are made. So for things like main mast, blade grips, mixer arms, etc. you do not need to do anything with them. If you use any spray based material near these bearings you will almost certainly wash the grease out and ruin them.

Thrust bearings are normally supplied dry and need greasing during assembly. I use the black moly grease.

Depending on the type of material that the dampers are made of I use tri-flow grease which is silicone based.

For the tail slider, the swash and washout slider I put a tiny drop of machine oil on the mast and tail shaft before the first flight of a new session.

I don't put anything on the tail drive belt, others use a graphite spray or anti static spray.

For the one way bearing I wash out any grease and then oil with the tri-flow

SadSack I have "The Greaser" and I do use it. The muck that gets inside a bearing is amazing and the greaser works like a charm. The generalisation is still true though.

Well if just starting out there are other things to buy before 'the greaser' building/rebuild would just do right off even new bearing. Nothng to lose everthing to gain. Wished it came in different sizes one for very small bearing...align bearing ain'tt the best

Tri-flow for shafts, silicon grease for bearings (i just use the Align stuff).

                    Cheers

i put a drop or two of this on the bearings inc the motor and work it in every other flight.

                      http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&I=LXJY55

moly grease, dri slide, spark ptfe spray and gt85 etc use them all depending on the purpose.
silicone oil isnt as good for lubricating metal but suits rubber o-rings and i use it to lube the belt in my b400 and the head dampers.

3 in 1 or similar will work for the main/tail shaft but is not ideal as it will attract dust, dri slide, ptfe spray or teflon spray/wax are better for this purpose.

the trick is to use less oil and make less mess which will ultimately attract dirt not that i have learnt this lesson either but ther you go ; )
