Maybe we should just standardise and all tests are to be taken with a helicopter fitted with a Futaba 154 rate gyro

If you take a look you will find the BMFA have practically no rules at all, there are recommendations however. The CAA have a few rules though.

I do find it strange that some seem to take delight in constantly knocking the BMFA, what they are actually doing is knocking a number of individuals who give their time and energies for the benefit of the hobby.

To the matter in hand, as someone involved in the achievement scheme, but still a novice on the heli scene, it would be usefull if anyone has any links to exactly what the flybarless systems do and how they operate.

I think the flybar itself when the weights are heavy behaves like a gyro.

On a scale of 0 to 3D, about 1.53 and counting (backwards at the moment...). Getting there though, 0.1D at a time!

when i took my "A" around 14 months ago, it was with a flybarred raptor 50 but i was told when flying my v-bared 600n that i would not be able to use it for the B certificate due to the extra gyro's etc. Although that was a while ago, and i think now, Examiners are more clued up and it is down to the individual examiner to allow the heli to fly as a V-Bar system is clearly not a flight aid like a heli-command or co pilot etc.
