another idea to throw into the pot is to make the heli with the current airframe, get a dx7 combo and then when/if you ever brake the sceadu frame then you could go get an elyq or equivalent because then you would have some spare money for fuel and spares hopefully
    just a thought

....Me I would like any of the advertisers and traders attached to RCHA to show some support in what most of the forum members are doing here and take the opportunity to possibly offer a DX7 at cost....at least!

......with the amount of buisness and recommendations WE drum up for these guys....not least the amount of money we spend with them....and they ALL know who they are...they could at least do something in return!

      Just my £10.00 worth.....

......come on guys it's not all take...... give a little too......

I'd also like to think other forum member agree too...

        Don't underestimate the running costs.
I suggest neither the new airframe or the DX7.
I suggest finding a reasonable 35Mhz radio thats going cheap, but is reliable (he can keep the DX6 for if he gets a small electric sometime), fix up the hirrobo - and buy fuel (80 quid a box delivered?) and spares when they are needed.
(actually he could learn to hover and do lazy 8 with the dx6 as the heli wont get out of range doing that).
No point in having a new radio when a cheaper one works (aide only just changed from 35Mhz) if the lad ends up looking at his heli while saving up for fuel, or looking at a broken heli saving up for parts.
All this donating stuff is fantastic (if I had spares stuff I'd send something) but I doubt if it will carry on to cover the running and repair costs which in the end are as expensive as the initial outlay (though none of us ever actually admit it).

If the airframe of the Sceadu is basically complete it would at least make sense to get it flying. They are a nice model and do fly very well. If Dan takes to the hobby big time the donations will soon disappear in fuel.

Moyseboy your thoughts are very appreciated but it would seem a waste to me to spend any of the money on an out of date radio.
Its true also about the DX6 being capable enough although I can't get the thought out of my head that the heli might go in as a result of the Tx/Rx combo he has presently in which case its going to cost more to repair it than the cost of the radio if not the first time then definately by the second.
Dan could offset a bit of the cost by selling his DX6 as well. Plus I do believe that we may yet find a v.good deal on the DX7.
Still a valid point and definately worth considering.
              Thanks.

i can now reveal that behind the scenes i have been in touch with HOBBY HANGER they have made dan /ade an offer of a dx7 and ar7000rx at a very large discount. they have even agreed to hold the price whilst ade/dan try and find a second hand deal.
and to top it all didnt want to post it themselve's incase it was seen as a publicity stunt. How top is that???

Other model shops take great delight in announcing that they have a top pilot as sponsored by them and pilots like to make public they are sponsored by whoever.

Dan will be able announce he is sponsored by Hobby Hanger. Hobby Hanger could say they are pleased to have Dan as one of the team. I don't see it as a publicity stunt
