Just started the long task of stripping everything down and marking off what we have against what we need.
I will post the shortage (and spares) list when I've finished.
Its gonna take a day or so as there is tons of stuff (5 swashes alone!).
Its gonna be a Sceadu 50 SWm BTW.

Couple of more pieces turned up today.

              KevinH Futaba Gy502 gyro

And a Raptor Canopy by ChemicalBro

Last night I worked late and have sorted out a complete kit minus a couple of items which I am working on obtaining soon.
The first is a flywheel for a 50 size engine
              A feathering Shaft
              Some mixing arms
Tail Boom braces and a bunch of screws.
I downloaded the manual and printed a copy off as the one donated by Evo Andy was for the HPM version and we are building the SWM version.
I have grouped and bagged all of the components so as to make the build for Dan as easy as possible.
Today I stripped the TT pro down and fitted new bearings (I had damaged the front one trying to remove the old raptor flywheel that was still fitted to it. Don't ask how!)
I also fitted a new OS8 glow plug and will test it later.
As soon as I've sourced the remaining items I will make arrangements with Dan to pick him up and commence the build together.

Managed to fit the pipe donated by Oli to the engine donated by T-rex pedro last night.
I had changed the bearings in it and fitted a new glow.
I also tested it in the garage after clampling it in a vice.
It started first time with no problems at all.
Sweet. Lets hope everything else goes as smoothly.

                  Hi all,
last of the hardware donations through today.
Thanks to Daren for the boom struts.

I have ordered the remaining parts which came to a total of £17.
I did not buy the 50 flywheel since it was £20! I did do some measuring and found that the 30 flywheel (of which I have one) is almost the same except that it is 4mm longer.
So I thought I could fit a 4mm collar to the 30 and all would be well.
I know Arky on this forum has a lathe and lives close so I have asked him to fashion one for me. Result!

I'll be meeting up with Dan this Friday to try to arrange a date to commence the build.
                  Should be soon.

OK so today I drove to Southampton to meet Dan for the first time.
Great guy who received the package full of Sceadu parts with gusto.
I had a tinker with his HBK2 but need to make a couple more adjustments to stop it from piroing (needs longer tail ball links to tail blade grips).
I have also agreed with him to commence the build of the Sceadu on Tuesday.
I will be up at his place by 9:00 a.m.
I will be guiding him and letting him do all the work!
I will also be taking photos as we progress.
Tune in again on Tuesday night for the update.
                    See you all then.

                      The build commences

                      Hi all,
Got to Dan's at 9:00 this morning for an early start.
Dan did well to not unwrap and put all the bits in a pile until I arrived. The suspense must have been killing him.
Here is everything spread out on the table ready to start.

So after a quick cup of tea we got stuck in with building up the side frames.

Next we built up the head and inserted it into the frames

                      The boom followed close behind.

and finally the mechanics were finished

Finished at around 4:00 p.m and will be going back again tomorrow to fit all the electrics and do the setup as well as add the skids (The quickUK ones supplied are a very tight fit and we need to ream out the bows a little to accept the skids).
As you can see one happy lad!

                      Stay tuned for more tomorrow.

Well spent another day in Southampton with Dan.
The heli is built and all electrics fitted. The mechanics are all set up.
Ran out of time to just tidy up so left Dan with these few things to do.
Fit Skids to frame (needs to find M3X35mm screws X4)
Use spiral wrap on all exposed wiring and neatly tie to frame.
                        Fit Raptor canopy to frame.

One thing we had a bit of a problem with was the TT Pro 50H (R) engine.
When trying to undo the throttle linkage to turn it round I inadvertantly moved the mixture metering screw. We adjusted it back in but we are not sure where this should be. Anyone got any guidelines?
This is not the main needle but the screw opposite this at the other side of the carb.
What is its function and how do we go about adjusting it correctly?
Dan is hoping to visit DMHC on Sunday to maiden it there.
I forgot my camera today and only managed this pic with the phone sorry.

                          Hi all,
                          Well today was the day!
DMHC members turned out in force to give Dan support (good on ya guys) on his Maiden flight of the Sceadu50 SWM.
There was a little bit (alot actually) of fiddling with the engine to get it tuned as both needles were removed and didn't have a starting reference for setting them back.
ChrisB (who would be buddying Dan) took the heli up first to trim it out, set a gentle throttle curve and get the blades tracked with the help of RichieClarkie.
Half a tank later we refuelled and Dan and Chris were at the flight line spooling up.
Before long the heli was in the air and Dan took control. The handover was so smooth in fact that at first i couldn't tell who was flying until I saw Chris' hands completely off the sticks. Dan was flying!!!!!
Here is the video of what ensued.

                          [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eQ0HAhYWCZQ[/ame]

After this flight the training legs were lost and another buddy session was on. This time Dan started to perform a few circuits and just for a moment got slightly caught out. Chris was in immediately and recovered for him.
Next flight Dan flew completely Solo with no buddy lead. Well done that man.
Eventually he packed his gear away and went home with the biggest smile I've seen on a kid in a long while with the heli still in one piece.

So I think this whole project has been an outstanding success and it couldn't have been achieved without YOU.
You guys were great. Thanks need to go to everyone down at DMHC today as well as all those that donated and gave support in one way or another.
This one act of selfless generosity by so many has really inspired me and rekindled my faith in people. I also believe that it has shown Dan what can be achieved when people pull together.
                          Well done one and all.
Lets hope that the spirit of this thread continues and even spreads throughout the rest of this forum.
I have opened this thread now so any comments you have just fire away.
There will also be further additions in the form of video and pictures by other DMHC members to follow.
