Well due to my medical condition and some of the drugs I am on are having side effects I think I am going to have to change mode .. Now here is a wierd thing ... I cant remember what mode its classed as and will my Tx let me do it is the next question ?? .. I want to basically swap the right stick with the left .. and have throttle/ rudder on the right and cyclics on the left .. This is just an idea to keep me flying as if I dont do something then I will only be able to fly when my hand is ok or the stupid docs get me sorted out ... My Tx is a FF7 2.4ghz .... Wonder how long its gonna take me to relearn to fly if I do it as well lol .....

Well, his setup (swapped Mode 1) is Mode 4 according to both Futaba and JR. No idea why he decides to call it Mode 3---well, it probably would have been more logical, but it's now at odds with the terminology 99% of the World uses.Neil H: Certified

Take a look in the back of your tx. I'd be suprised if you couldn't swap the connectors for each axis of the stick units about and put the controls anywhere you want. worst case would mean a bit of soldering.www.heli-extreme.co.uk a good club in south Sheffield

I can't offer anymore advise then already offered, I just hope your problems get better soon mate, or improve greatly.
Practise like mad on the Sim, and within a few months it'll be second nature.
Best of luck bud.

Mike, this is Mode 3 that you want (and what Futaba call it), not Mode 4 as suggested above -- and you certainly don't need to swap any pot wires!
Your FF7 can swap to it easily (as I changed mine to Mode 3), just go into the TX's setup menu (hold down both the buttons while turning on) and in the list is TX mode (as well as stuff like language and REV throttle). Change it to mode 3 and turn off.
You also need to physically swap the ratchet in the TX but this is quite easy to do, just a couple of screws and a sprung lever.
I don't recommend swapping modes if you're used to Mode 2 though, relearning will be harder than learning from scratch I reckon. Mode 3 is the best though

To clarify, all Futaba radios support all four modes. These are:
Mode 1 - left stick = rudder + elevator; right stick = aileron + collective
Mode 2 - left stick = rudder + collective; right stick = aileron + elevator
Mode 3 - left stick = aileron + elevator; right stick = rudder + collective
Mode 4 - left stick = aileron + collective; right stick = rudder + elevator
I'm pretty certain this is the universal standard set of modes for planes and helis.
It seems many people understandably confuse the modes (esp in that link Ade posted - you know they don't really know what they're talking about when they write IIII for 4 instead of IV..)
Note Spektrum TXs can NOT be swapped, they only come as fixed Mode 1 or fixed Mode 2. They need to reprogrammed by Horizon Hobby to be swapped, and no Spektrum can support 3 or 4.
Hope this clears it all up
