Thought I would try this setup out. the parts are from the 4g3

I bought the boom too, this is in square section to fit the motor mount though I used the normal round section which still fits with a dab of super glue and the screw.
I didnt have a solid piece of carbon at the right size to use as the boom so I pushed and glued a smaller dia into the tube. Hence the wires on the outside.
The hole thing is super solid now and as yet there is no sign of it breaking at the root as was the case with the old thin walled boom.
Its worth a thought, Looks more stream lined and doesnt twist the boom anymore
