Hi Folks, tried out a new low volt Lipo system over the last few weeks, it’s taken a little while to really get used to it but today’s finally nailed it, I won’t be flying without one from now on
This will let you fly your electric until it won't even hover, but it won't let any cell drop below your chosen voltage
Most on here know that using a low volt alarm/light or a LVC on esc is not the best way, these monitor the overall voltage so whist the total voltage might be fine one cell could be heading south and taking a hit
Using a timer seems to be the best way but it’s really not up to much, it is pretty much a guess as to what’s left in the tank, especially if like me you run different headspeeds at different times and don’t fly a set routine. I seem to like flying both the close up stuff and the big air type f3c moves it’s really hard to gauge what’s left so I end up running on the conservative side. Which means I’m not getting the best out of each cycle, and packs don’t cycle for ever…
This won’t be everyone’s cup of tea, if you’re a real stick banger and like to abuse the packs going for broke near the end of the flight-don’t bother with this- it won’t let you.
This Lipo protector monitors each cell individually, you set the voltage cut-off and go fly, I’ve set mine to 3.1volts, that seems low to me at first but it’s the loaded voltage and works a treat.
Once a cell reaches 3.1 the headspeed is lowered, I’ve flown packs right down till they won’t even hover the heli- not something you usually do with 10s lipo packs


Yet when charged every cell is 3.6 volts -resting voltage.
It really works- plug in, go fly, land when blades stop spinning. All with the knowledge that no cell has been deep discharged.
It’ll take a while to get real good info on how good this will be, I can see it really allowing more cycles on each pack, I will have to pick up some new packs and start a log. Right now all my packs range from 60 cycles right up to 200+
The system really shows just how good the packs are, and the condition of any poor cells. I normally fly 6.5mins, chuck on a good pack and with this you won’t even notice for the first 5mins. After 5 mins any try any REAL hard collective/pitch manoeuvres and the head speed drops, you won’t ever crash but it’s noticeable. But I am really taking big amp drawers (Mikado/10s/scorpion 4035/jive -14 pitch climbouts) with normal flying it’s pretty much normal until to 6.5mins. Normally That’s it but with this you can fly on with a 10s revo 4800 pack it’ll go 8.30, the 3700 packs around 1 min more. With these fairly good packs the headspeed slowly drops over 20/30 seconds and you land.

With well used packs with a dodgy cell or two, the system picks it up earlier, your get the headspeed drops earlier in the flight, it drops quick but also builds back up quick as soon as the voltage raises as the pitch is backed off. Because these packs have a dodgy cell once that gos low you don’t get as much time to land, it’s like a switch. On charging your’ll find the low cell at 3.6 and the rest way above.
For any one flying top end multiple packs who wants them looked after this is great, you just can’t abuse any cell-
BTW - it's a Schulze lipodimatic14- you just plug the balance tap in as well
