No, never leave any heli powered with the transmitter turned off. Even with the 2.4Ghz kit, the transmitter could be accidentally turned on and that would put a lot of wear on the servos. I know this is a nitro you have but if you did this with an electric the blades would spin up and cause a lot of damage to itself / furnature / skin etc.

If you want your battery to last, treat it well and use a decent battery charger to discharge it down to a decent voltage.

Just stick the heli on charge after a days flying be it half charged or 3/4 charge left in it etc etc.

Another way to do it is to leave an LED voltage checker connected (the same as an onboard voltage checker)

It takes up to 5 days to discharge one of my 3200mah ones.

          Cheers

Liam, invest in a decent charger. Multiplex do one for about £30 that will discharge & cycle batts properly.

Good chargers 'love' batts and will extend their life. If you do it by guesswork you will soon be paying more out on batts than a decent charger will set you back. Stick on a post & see what's for sale. There are several makes that will do the job for you.

As above NEVER NEVER NEVER (is that enough nevers?) switch on a heli without the TX being on and on the right model.

It will knacker the servos and one day you will do it to an electric heli. That will be a disaster & dangerous.

Flying is all about routine. Safety in routine and doing everything by the book. That way you will automatiaclly do the right things. Take it from one who has learnt the hard way.

              Cheers Liam,

Alternatively connect the battery to a 12V bulb (a car number plate bulb in its holder is ideal). Connect it up properly with a Deans connector and it will give you a nice slow discharge without getting hot.

David, can't agree more mate. A good basic charger will pay dividends in caring for your batteries. The pro-peak stuff always served me well (prodigy 2).

If I remember the Prodigy is the same as the Multiplex. My first charger & I will never sell it. Just does it's job.

They have a memory effect. Before going into all this, do you know what that is?

NiMh aren't supposed to have any memory.
