Anyone tried the ARK X400 yet?

  • #2
Not to put a damper on things but my mate & I have one we're sick to the back teeth with it. Parts fitting poorly and we're talking about the ark aluminium upgrades at that so if you decide to get upgrades then I'd be inclined to go with microheli's stuff. Secondly I am running out of things to try to get a good solid tail hold and believe me I have tried everything using a 401 & polo 4 digi servo. Oh and the undercarriage is crap.

I hope you don't find the same issues with yours and wish you all the best but I'm seriously considering selling it and getting a Trex SE.

    Cheers.

No, I like mine very much. But I have to say I put on some upgrades.
      -alu swashplate
      -alu center hub
      -CF main blades
      -CF tail blades
      -alu tailcase
      -alu pitch slider
-alu gyro mount on the tail
-alu servo mount on the tail
      I fly this with a GY401 and a Futaba S3008, rock steady.
The problem with this is that you have to ream all the ball links on this machine. Al or most of the upgrades can come from the T-rex 450. It is the same machine, the maker of the T-rex and the X400 are the same man. There's a whole story around this.

not seen people use the polo servo.

I've had two. The only upgrade I was advised to get was a metal swashplate. The original used to come apart. This was also a common problem with the first T-rex 450's. After hitting the wall with a blade and snapping the head, I put the metal head and seesaw on as well as the metal tail gearbox. Mine flew really well. The only problem was CG, but I feel that was due to the batteries I was using.

I've just sold it and got a T-rex SE. This also is a really smooth model although with my level of flying won't get used to it's full potential. I was blinded by the bling.

Hey Blair, I know all about the trex compatability etc as I have read a good deal about this but thanks for the info anyway.

Ade. I am using the polo because when I brought a tail servo last august it seemed to be the choice of a number of people on the forums of trextuning & RR for the best performance. I must admit it is a little on the large side but it is certainly very quick, I think its still faster than the ashtek but could this be causing the problem... Is it to fast ? What do you think and would this be countered by turning the delay up on the 401 ?

Antis. I changed the swash when I had the kit and went straight to ccpm, then gradually got all the other ally upgrades to try and get rid of the slop. It just seems that all the upgrades I have had are just not up to the standars they should be and I cannot believe I have had every part from dodgy batches.

            Cheers Guys. 8)

Sure have ade, am down to around 5mm out from centre, any further out and I just end up reducing the gain to around 30 although I have been looking at it again today and have now found a small bush that accepts the screw to hold the tail slider arm on was not quite tight and would bind a small amount. This has now been rectified and seems to have cured the problem to a certain degree although I need a few more flights tinkering tomorrow if the weather holds.

                Cheers.
