Will my dx6 fly any heli? They say they are park flyers only, but if in a long time i wanted to buy a nitro heli, could i buy a better rx or would i have to buy a new tx (dx6i, dx7)? Can you use a better reciver, and then use it with big helis? I wont be getting a new heli for years, but i was just wondering

The DX6i and the RX that comes with it the AR6200 are FULL range, it technically can transmit at a higher power than the DX7 if you switch the power output to US setting, the main thing with this set is ditch the 4 dry cells and add rechargable ones preferably a welded pack ( will fit but will need a wee mod!)

The DX6 is limited to 6 channels.

I think some larger Nitros need seven channels [because one has to be reserved for the governor]. But I dont fly Nitro so dont know for sure. Also if you wanted to do things such as wheel retracts - that would require a channel.

A rx built for say the dx7 (which uses 7 channels) would not work with the dx6. You have to match the rx and tx.

      FWIW, I fly a Trex 600e with a DX6 quite happily.

As far as the 'park flyers' tag goes, I have never had a problem with distance. I dont know what the max range is off the top of my head but I think it is further than I'd be comfortable with flying a heli at - or even being able to see it well.

I wouldnt risk using a DX6 for any heli unless flying in a hall, its range is very limited so you max get 300 yards.
I had one for sim only and i wanted to use it for my kyosho illusion jet and when i did a rang test i couldnt even get past the 150 yards mark when on the ground.

I wouldnt risk it mate. they have been taken off the market bec of there short range

          Hi Dandeman
          Perhaps you meant the DX6i?
As I understand it, the DX6i is a DX6 BUT with full range.
