A better learning heli

i have a blade400 but want something thats better for learning purposes,
its to my eyes not stable enough to give enough confidence for trying side on etc.
i get stable days and wasted days which may or may not be down to the gyro but still it just doesnt inspire confidence and i feel its so light that it gets blown around easily

the other models im thinking about include in order of preference
the
OUTRAGE G5
RAVE 3D
BEAM E4
the first two i like as they can use 350mm blades and the reviewers state they fly like bigger models also they are a definate quality leap and im confident they would be more stable and therefore easier to fly

my tail in flying is nailed and im very comfortable flying forwards, backwards
even sideways and so on so long as its mostly tail in im fine

so, which of these models would be a BETTER model for learning on

A 50 size machine would be better to learn on, more stable size helps!

Failing that T-rex 500 size/Atom etc are a good size and there solid stable machines

I agree with Disc. Get a 50/600 nitro.

Failing that get a 30 size nitro. The turn-around time of fly-fill-fly in my opinion outways the benefit of going electric.

I am a member of MK Heli and as a beginner and a witness to other beginners the pace with which you learn with the bigger machines is much better than the 400/450 size machines as you get much more flying time and a much more stable machine.

To add another suggestion... Lots of people (and many on here) learnt on Raptors. They are reliable, upgradable, spares cheap and easy to get hold of and loads of info on the net and from fellow flyers here on the forums. Most of all even a very good one fully kitted out ready to fly will not cost a great deal if you are on a budget. Best to see if you can find one local and if you are a member of a club, see if someone who knows exactly what to look for can go with you.

I can see where these guys are coming from and I learned with a 50 which I still fly, but the current crop of 450s (including the TREX450 SE V2) are excellent and number of people have sucessfully started with them. You clearly are already down the road on the learning curve, plus if you can keep a Blade 400 in the air you are doing fine.

I'm currently flying the Beam and it's very stable and the quality of the kit design and build is lovely. For stabilty the Rave swinging 350 blades is as stable as a 500 sized heli, but it does cost more money than the Beam. The Outrage is an excellent heli too but you would need to invest in 6s packs instead of 3s.

I would look at the Beam or if you have the money the Rave. You are local to me so maybe we can meet up at some point and you can take a look at the Beam. PM me if you want

the only thing is with the big helis is you cant just pop down to the field [like near me ] and have a little fly about like you can with a little 450 size heli, and also i have checked and my local club is full [ no new members ] so im really stuck and possibly on my own with this. i used to fly at a club [planes] and we only flew on sundays the whole day and it was nice,also it was a friendly place, but they dont like helis and i know the heli club is full [ dorset helis]

so for now im doing my best to learn on a b400 in my back yard mostly and when i get to the park things will probably get better

If you apply to join DMHC I can pretty much guarantee you will be able to join mate. We were full last year, but I know there will be places available as of the end of January.
