  • Who else had a fantastic day

    I just had to share

After a few weeks of terrible weather standing at the field in the wind the rain the freezing cold, starting to think that my flying was falling apart and I was getting nowhere, Then today, the sun came out the wind died down and it was fresh rather than freezing cold. What a difference, every flight I really enjoyed and it felt so good I tried a couple of new things, ok, so they were far from perfect but hey, I tried them, I did my first attempts at inverted autos, not great but hey, I tried them and still have the heli in one piece.

The other was continuous piro-flips. again not very tidy basically the heli traveled from one end of the field to the other, but I tried them.

Blimey I had forgotten what a high it is when you start new stuff.

I really hope some of you have an equally good day
    All the best
    Tony.

Terrible weather here today with gale force winds Tony.

Not a chance of flying today in my area much as I'd like to.

That must be a record, winds dropping in Sarffend LOL Make sure you let Phil know you beat him to the inverted autos... I thought he was going to try yesterday but I think the cold got the better of him.

I went up the field for a quick start of the engine to check the clutch alignment etc and ended up spending 2 and a bit hours up there

Was a little windy (gusts of about 25mph). I did three autos as well today, unlike the normal ones where they are unplanned - I did them because I wanted to, not because I had blown up yet another engine LOL

Met up with Steve and a couple of other new lads and got to see Jame's Avro in part built condition. Should be good when that is in the air.

Whilst I only had two tanks today, they were like it used to be.... FUN!

Hopefully this is a sign of my mojo returning, though I recon we will end up having a spell of bad weather and I will have to start all over again!.

I think after today, windy = autos - you should have gone out Tim LOL

I'm still only learning and using a buddy box with an instructor although I can now take off, hover both sides and land by unaided. Fortunately the one time when I decided to try a slow piro only 8ft off the ground and sub conciously put some right aileron in as well Richard (the instructor) saved my T Rex 600 from certain death. That was the only time in 3 tanks that I needed to be rescued though so all's good.
Heli was making some strange noises on the fast piro's and it turns out I may have been lucky as there are 2 teeth missing off the tail drive gear. So to sum up not only did I have fun today but I got lucky as well.

ive had a superb 3 weeks really. got loads of flying done, got loads of things sorted, side-on tic-tocs and normal nailed, inverted autos pretty much there, backwards inverted almost there, continuous piro flips pretty much in one place and getting lower, all in all a great couple of weeks. the weather turned to crap today though and i rekon it might be here to stay for a week or 2

Don't worry Jamie Tim and I definately plan to make a return trip soon as the weather improves. definately flying with better flyers helps improve your own flying.

Have to say still on a high here and I had almost forgotten what that was like, definately been in a little hole with my flying, but today showed me I still had the ability to make headway,

Sounds like your really getting there Jamie looking forward to sharing a field with you and seeing the improvments.

sorry the winds been blowing up there Tim, but judging by what others have been saying we were really lucky in this neck of the woods for the weather today.
                All the best
                Tony.

Believe it has to be bad for me to stay at home and today was really bad.
