  • Visit Protocol ?

    Hi,
I am still very new to this hobby and site (well and truly hooked), and was wondering what the "protocol" is regarding visiting clubs ? I,ve just joined a local club (lm ln deepest darkest West Wales) to find its a limited 30 membership and no heli flyers! Thats no problem i also have a plank and hopefully i can convert a few to heli,s and it gives me a proper place to fly.
What i would like to do is visit some "heli" clubs, not to fly, but to see the different heli,s being flown and soak up as much info., as possible and actually meet some of you guys that seem to be like minded. So whats good form ? I imagine a phone call to a club sec.,etc.,???.
    Richard,

GIVE a man a Fish and he will eat for a day. TEACH him how to Fish and he will sit in a boat and drink beer all day!!

Some of the clubs here have flyins where everyone is invited .. Others we tend to let each other know and ask each other if we there end of the country if we can come down to there field ... Most of the clubs seem to have a 3 flight rule before you have to join ...As for coming down and having a look ... See what clubs are about or where you are in the country and ask if n e one has a club near where you are and see if you can pop down to have a look ....

We tend to just get people turning up for a visit at our club. If your only looking for info or advice i dont see how just turning up on a known flying day would be a problem!

Any half decent club will be more than willing to give you advice and tips without expecting you to join. Find a club or two and visit them all before deciding where to join, good luck

There is a specific insurance rule about non BMFA memebers visiting a club and trial flying under supervision which is where the rule on number of visits comes from. If you are already a bmfa memeber, either country memeber or through another BMFA club then its entirely up to the local club rules. However if you are not intending to actually fly then all clubs should be happy for you to visit! (some are friendlier than others...).
Wherever you go take you heli in case they are happy for you to fly.
