  • Setting up Phoenix for my LP5DSM

    Hi guys

I just installed Phoenix and am having some problems configuring it fro the transmitter that was supplied with my CX2 (the LP5DSM).

Anyone have any tips for setting it up for a T-rex 500?

I can't see it listed in the transmitter and I'm not sure how best to set it up.

    Any help would be appreciated.

    Cheers

    Hi Martin

It's under "Other" in the "Your Controls" menu.

    All the best

      Superb! Thanks Graham.

Where's a good place to start with Phoenix? Is it best to begin with the hover training?

I also find that there seems to be a bit of a lag between making control input and the model responding. And, when trying to stay in one place on pitch only hover training, should one make minor tweaks to the stick position and recentre? (Almost poking at it to correct drift)

Have a go with one of the contras first - they're really easy (easier than real life) it will get you familiar with flying about on the screen... when you're bored with that (which will be quite soon!) I would try the 500 or something larger as they're more stable than the little electrics... I think you've a long night ahead!!

In hover training, the key for me was small quickish movements to correct things. there's somewhere on the net that recommends short stabs...

Above all, have fun with it and enjoy the crashes - they cost you nothing!!!

Crikey! You say Phoenix is easier than the real thing! TILT! I can't keep the T-rex 500 in the air for more than a second or two!

          I have much to learn.

We were all the same in the beginning Martin.

After weeks of practice things will start to click.

run through a full calibration then try the raptor 30 that flys really nicely

Thanks for your help and encouragement. I am finding, irrespective of how I calibrate the transmitter, I cannot stop channel 6 moving with the throttle stick. Is this a problem or am I doing something wrong?

Thanks guys. Is there anything I should do in the model edit on Phoenix to make it more suitable for a newbie?

Don't worry Martin - it's like that for everyone to start with!!!

Now you know why almost everyone recommends the sim!!

You're doing the right thing by getting loads of sim time before the heli because doing it in real lfe is another step, but a lot easier after using the sim regularly!! think of the cash you're saving!

                        All the best
