Hello everyone, i'm new to rcheliaddict.
I started flying planks about 5 years ago but lost interest and storage space to my children, so my .40 trainer had to go. I bought a TREX 450 which immediately grabbed my interest in rotory and so bought another to bling. I've been flying them for a few years at a few different sites, but mostly on my own. A year ago I bought an old Nexus 30 and soon outgrew this and bought a Raptor 50 with OS 50 Hyper. I've upgraded everything to 2.4Ghz with a Spektrum DX6. I hated the DX6 and sold it a week later to buy a DX7 which i love. I would never go back to 35Mhz.
The Raptor is a fantastic machine to fly, but it had to be better than the Nexus and so far my experience of nitro is limited to these two machines.
Last week I removed the aging 4 AA's from the raptor and looked at alternatives. With my experience of Lipo from the Trex's, i wanted to go along this route for the Raptor, so I purchased the Align 2in1 regulator from Revolution Models. I stripped down my oldest (but not too old) 3 cell Flightpower 2170 from my Trex stock, removed one of the cells and changed the lead to fit the regulator. The Raptor now has a 2170MAH 2 cell Lipo powering everything, and with the glow plug function and decent battery monitor, I feel a lot more confident. I will hopefully fly it for the first time this weekend if my BMFA membership renewal comes through in time.
My new years resolution is to pass my A, ASAP.
It's time to get on the sim.
Happy new year and hopefully a good one for flying.
