  • Trex 500 - First Crash

Everything seemed to be going smoothly until after landing I attempted to hover again but the heli pirouetted 180 degrees towards me, uncommanded, and I was unable to keep her level nose-in at 6 inches off the ground so the main blades smashed into the ground.

Any idea what caused the uncommanded spin? I have at the very least damaged main blades, bent tail boom and stripped main gear.

    Cheers

Any more info on your equipment used mate.

      2.4ghz or 35mhz

How much flight time had you used, Was the heli stuck in long grass and did a piro as it left the ground, Were you flicking into idle 2 at the time.

Several factors could maybe reach the problem.

DX7 radio. I had approx 4 mins flight time. Yes it piro'd as it left the ground, grass was short.

Well I could insult you here but will try not to.

How much flying have you done, A novice pilot could have panicked when it left the ground and spun round in the grass heading towards you.

Only a suggestion so please don't take this personally, I wasnt there so only chucking ideas around.

Have you got soft start on your speed controller or is it set to off? if its off and you open throttle quickly then that would cause heli to rotate due to the torque of the motor.
