  • cheap 1080p camcorder??

well i have been thinking of buying a decent (600-800 quid) 1080P camcorder for a while but been putting it off. over crimbo my dad seen maplins selling THIS for £150 so he picked it up.

i got a loan of it today to see how it handled motion on 1080/720p. the video here is shot at 720 and compressed for decent broadband speeds but you will get the idea.

as a side note this was the 2nd flight with my 700 gear mod to stop it stripping so i've flew higher than normal which won't help the camera. i'm going to put some pics up of the mod and thanks to the guys on HF for finding/suggesting it....anyways........

the upshot is the camera is pretty solid looking and specs are good. the focus is terrible and you can not turn off autofocus, it is not very good in low light (like 99% of cameras) and the HD quality is useless when it's not in focus for me. if your taking normal stuff around outside then the quality is pretty good so it would suit some people i'm sure with a budget.

anyways thought i'd post it up as i know a few other people who fly were toying with getting one so if this helps with the decision then great.

    cheers

Have you had a look at the Sanyo Xacti range?
Not sure about the night quality though but does have an optical 10X zoom.
Got an early VCP-C6 which is not HD but very handy as it is small yet good enough for most things.

i've gave up on them mate tbh. i've decided i aint spending a large amount of money on a camera that i will rarely use. i'm a tech geek but i don't own a single camera.....go figure!

      cheers
