  • Headspeed Trex 600e

A couple of weeks ago went from 10tooth motor pinion to 11tooth in aim for more h/speed now im moving into inverted and tick tocks etc. H/Speed calc online suggested about a 2000rpm h/speed with the 1600kv L motor, 170 main gear and 11tooth pinion.

When we tacho it today getting 1830ish? Not what the w/site says.?

The heli is setup with 100% throttle across the idle up curve so its not that.

How should i aim to get this higher since when doing vert. tick tocks after a couple the heli bogs down and drops quickly. It could be that im over agressive with the pitch (this being my first attempts) or it could be a power related issue.

Also whats the recommended motor upgrade that will work today with a 6s pack and will work later in the year if i upgrade to an 8s setup?

    Thanks.

It is almost certainly a motor or lipo issue or both, the headspeed quoted on the calc is the optimum headspeed if the Lipo is holding good voltage and the motor is giving an acceptable RPM.

If the Lipo is dropping under load the headspeed will decay, also the 600L motor is average at best and not really ideal for Tic Tocs etc unless its in A1 condition which they are usually not.

I cant recommend a motor suitable for 6s now and 8s later im afraid but i reckon you wont find one to give you optimum power on both.

As a matter of interest, what Lipos are you using?

Also going from a 10t to an 11t pinion will give a better geared headpseed but the Amps draw will increase because the motor and the Lipo will have to work harder. If either is not in top form this will add to the problems.

There are far more knowledgeable people on here than me,especially when it comes to electrics who hopefully can advise better.

      Calculations sound fine.

I'd say it's possibly less than perfect packs or well used packs plus the cold weather. Motor could also be starting to weaken but I'd say cold weather would be my prime suspect

today i ran through it 4 packs of TP 5000mah v2's. one of them only 6/7 flights old. One electrolite 5000mah (my best batt) and one flightpower evolite 5350mah. The flightpower giving a terrible 1730 rpm. I can believe the cold is deffo not helping but wonder if the motor or something else is holding it back.

Would have liked to try a new more powerful motor first that may fix my issues on 6s and then when the need arises move to a 8s setup using the same motor...maybe their is not one that can do it all?

Defo sounds like cold to me like. I have experienced the same with my electrics and this is why my lipos are in storage mode.

Id say so yes, if you kept flying them like that then definately. By how much i wouldnt know maybe someone else can chip in there. Either way i wasnt taking any chances and its pointless flying with crap headspeeds anyways so i just put the electrics away until warmer weather.
