  • Excellent Service from ModelZone, Brighton

    Well...

All i can do is praise the management and service @ MODELZONE in Brighton.

As some of you will know i bought a piece of crap MiniCopter V2. I had about 20 mins flight time in 3 weeks.

I have been in constent contact with John @ Modelzone buying parts especially Swash Plates. John by his own admission knows nout about Heli's but he helped me as much as he could.

Well they offered me a complete refund for the MiniCopter V2 and gave me a Lama for 285 which is still cheaper than i have found it in other shops and the net.

I had the Lama off the floor in 5mins and flying in 7. What a relief!

The service i recieved there was excellent... just thought i would pass it on!

P.S The Mini Copter was battered to pieces and held together by glue! I am sure some of you have owned a few of those.

Glad you had a good experience. There are many excellent R/C hobby places I have ordered from - and i have to admit, other industries I deal with daily could learn a thing or two about efficency and customer service from the model shops that i use.

Yeah ok but would SMC give me a full refund for a smashed to pieces MiniCopter just because i didn't like it. I own businesses and i would never had done that for anyone! Maybe given them a discount on a new order but never a full refund.

I phoned SMC before i used ModelZone and they didn't seem to be to interested in helping a newbie. They said they would ring me back and they never bothered...

I ordered from SMC twice and never again. First time the item was out of stock (even though it said in stock on the website) and after waiting for a week i phoned them and they said - duhhh it aint come in yet. So i cancelled.

Second time, it took days for the order to come.

Midland Helicopters on the other hand, i order on friday morning and the stuff comes saturday morning.

I am glad it's not me that had a bad exp with SMC.

Your right it is down to personal exp!

The problem is when these suppliers when they are dealing with a newbie and their is bad treatment involved, the newbie, becomes experienced and is ready to buy a new copter. They may lose the business and any good reputation they may have to be passed on.

Let me put it another way I have sign and print shops. Whether you spend 5 with me or 5000 you get the same initial treatment. Which is always full of good advice and money saving tips...

I'm biased, SMC are on my doorstep and I get good service and plenty of help etc.

Not used ModelZone so know nothing about them but all I would say is I'd be reticent to buy a Heli from any shop that freely admitted they knew "nowt about helis" especially as a newbie in pretty much the same position.
