The cable is the heart of the software protection so expect to be asked for proof of original purchase.

the dongle is your license, loose the dongle loose the license.

you wouldnt believe the number of "i lost my dongle" or "my dog ate my dongle" emails they used to get....

unfortunately the dissonesty of those people means that people that genuinely loose their dongle loose out.

Where ever you purchased it they must be able to either give you a copy of your receipt if you lost yours or like me never take a receipt from a model shop (gotta missus you know) either way all you need is proof that you did buy a copy - still got the box and cd? that should be proof enough (but not a sure fire method), but the best route is back to where you purchased it and get a copy of your receipt....good luck

But what's to stop you giving a mate your cable or selling it, then saying you lost it and getting a cheap replacement? There's no way you'll get a cheap/free replacement i'm afraid. Like has been said, it's your license so you will more likely have to buy a new copy.

Its true, but if you don't have a receipt, and you are a genuine cause its worth a go - may as well try before you fork out £80.... again

Probably ought to explain that I wasn't trying to pirate software - simply hoping there was a saving in just getting the cable without box and disk!!

As Josh says, there wasn't and as other posts have stated, the value of the product is in the dongle so now we have 2 copies of Phoenix (and 2 leads) in the house - great for local sessions!

Yes. I hadn't thought of that. Downloading exes from a torrent using windoze is certainly an almost quaranteed source of free software. You could probably check it's ok with McAfee.

They will not supply a dongle for any anount.. unless it's 80 quid.. they will supply a replacement for a damaged one for free or a minium cost.. but they want the damaged unit back first to comfirm that it's a genuine claim.... I know coz that's what I had to do when my rat ate mine.. for dinner

They will supply the disc also at a nominal cost as well.... you can alway back up the disc as it's copyable... like I did

But I always keep disc in the box and the box is hard to loose then

And don't try to open the black box... it's full of resin with the circuit board imbedded in it, and is completey worthless if damaged
