it started when my dad bought a small contra in london . i've been hooked ever since i first flyed it . i started with a twister coastguard on 35 mhz with FMS ( flying model simulator) . i flew it mainly at our indoor club and occasionally in the garden on very calm days. for christmas i got a twister cp gold . my dad was impressed because i didnt crash it at all throughout the entire day . but i had problems . we found out that the motor brushes had worn down so i wasnt getting a high enough headspeed . so we contacted my flying teacher (pete milner) who tried to fix it but couldn't .
it is currently in the hands of steve who is giving it a brushless upgrade who was also at dmhc today ( the one with the chinook)
he just said to my dad that the headspeed is too slow so he needs something like a 4000kv motor for it to run .
i have been having lessons in clutton from pete milner . we do it on a buddybox on a raptor 30.
It is a great hobby to get into no matter how young. *
*within reason*
there are 2 little boys that went to dmhc today , one is 10 with a trex 450 , dx7 and trex600 . the other boy is 7 and has a trex450 with alloy head and dx6i .
plus , refer to radd's guide to rotary flying as it has made me last 5 days without a crash whereas my dad crashed in roughly 8 seconds . also DONT FORGET THE TRAINING GEAR .
thanks
josh

Josh, Great story, great delivery of all that was asked, along with a special sense of humour.........I really enjoyed it, thankyou..
You could just donate your dads Blade 400 free to a good home
Whilst it might get you a nomination from the recipient your dad may have something to say about it
Rob - You can go off people you know!!!
Eddie - I'm very proud of him and he deserves the Gold Star - he's managed to run 4 batteries through his new heli and its broken down before he crashed it... how many people can say that!!! (certainly not me!)
Thanks to Steve (Xygax) it now has a brushless motor and speed controller so hopefully it will be in the air again soon!!!
All the best

Graham......and he deservedly earned one. Not only is Josh's knowledge of helis impressive.. but his sense of humour had me rolling around.....a great story which I'm sure many will enjoy reading...
Well done little feller ,
(don't know how old you are Josh) but persevere with your flying, practice makes perfect, keep going on the sim too! Every flight you get better no matter what!

Graham, if you want to recommend Josh for another one in say 2 months time, along with "how clean and tidy his room is kept" and of course his Heli progression.....I'll see what I can do!

Charlie
Charlie.
You are testament that young lads can make the grade at an early age that's for sure.
We were only talking about you yesterday, robgt/3dbasher and myself saying what a tremendous pilot you are and not only that, your attitude is superb but you have perfect manners too when I met you at Goole last year.
That goes a long way in my book.
Good luck to Josh in his progress I'm sure if he stays focused he will get there and Charlie - You are going to be a future 3D champion that's for sure.
I think it's great that a father and son have found a hobby they like doing together. In this day and age when so many people manage somehow to fall out with their parents it's nice to see somebody do the opposite.
Keep it up both of you. We all watch each other's progress with a keen interest, even if like me we don't always comment on it.
Thanks Eddie - I'll tell him - positive encouragement and all that!!
Thanks John - it is good to have a shared interest even if we do drive his Mum and Sister nuts - we've been having some local Phoenix sessions with him on his PC in his bedroom and me in my study, hollering up and down the stairs to each other!!!
Hopefully, we'll get his heli sorted today or tomorrow so he'll be back in the air!
Hope things are at least bearable for you at the moment, and that the helis are providing a useful distraction...
All the best mate
