  • Tool set for Trex 500

    Hi ALL,

I've bought an assembled Trex 500 and don't have the required tool set to re-assemble after I crash it!!! Need a pitch gauge, hex drives, pliers etc. Anybody recommend a good set and who to buy it from?

    Thanks

The Align ones from fastlad are pretty good and what i use. They fold down and you get a screw driver end and 3 hex driver ends. They are basically the fittings which all the Align helis commonly use.

thanks Made2fade. On the issue of spares - I currently have a spare boom and main gear. Given that I 'm a beginner, what additional spares would you recommend? I'm just going to make the order for the toolset at fast lad and would like to order everything together. Also the heli came with x3 6s flightpower 2500. I'm not sure how many cycles these have so i'd like to add an additional battery, bearing in mind that I'm nowhere near 3d ability yet!! What's the recommendation on these? Do I need to buy something extra for a different battery to charge on my thunder power 610C?

Sorry for all the basic questions and thanks

Basically you will want all the shafts as spares for starters... tail output shafts/main shafts/feathering shafts, flybars, maybe undercarriage set, links and rods also blades because if ya break any of the stuff mentioned then the blades will probably be stuffed also. As for a battery try the maxpoly packs... there cheap and perfect for sports flying so will do you nicely for learning. Dont know much about your charger to be honest but im guessing you will need to buy a balancing board to charge diffrent packs. Im also guessing you currently have a FP board if your using FP packs already unless you have a convertor for the lead. The maxpoly packs use the JSX-H connector so you will want a board to charge them if ya go that route. Other good packs would be revolectrix and outrage IMO.

only other spares I would have in the box are main gear and auto gear plus baseplate, which are pretty vunerable.

Battery wise I would completely agree with Lee
          All the best

Spot on Lee, you can't go wrong with the good ole Align hex set, and the Align 1.5mm/screwdriver then you'll have two 1.5mm hex tools for easy Feathering shaft installs, plus some good quality pliers and cutting pliers, ball link widener, and some good quality micro Philip's screwdrivers, Buzz Flyer sell some superb drivers in this area.

And as Tony says, a good accessory case to store your tools and spares.
