  • who trusts a 6100 rx?

I am tempted to fit an AR6100 rx to my 450 and use its AR6200 for my trex500. I've spent shed loads of money recently and another £50+ will hurt.

I have witnessed problems with AR6100 rxs. They may have been early software, but it makes me nervous.

The frame on my 450 is a g10 helidirect one (not carbon) so the Rx should have the best chance possible as regards being shielded.

Who on here is using a 6100 in a 450 and flying it LARGE?
Are you guys happy that it works well enough?

I wouldn't, a 6200 has 4 aerials to fall off, the 6100 only has 2 and they come off more easily, plus even though they updated the software they still suffer from failure.

I have one in my 450s.

Had it for 11 months now with no problems at all.

Both crashes this year can be attributed to cr@p flying by the pilot.

Especially the very public one at the MK Flyin pylon race

      I'm happy with mine!

      Cheers

      Mark

PS. I have hot melt glued the RX aerials on.

We have all all our elecs running 6100's bar the hurricane 550, 2 450's and a 250, they have been moved around also and the only problem i had with one was the ant wire breaking on one after about a year. Never had any other issues and that was with a G10 framed a/c

I had one cost me a model but I think I'd trust one in a 450 as you are never gonna let it get that far away unless you have bionic eyes

I have AR6100's (not end pin) fitted to my 450x and 450SEv2 with CF frame. I get plenty of distance (for my eyes anyway) and have no problems whatsoever!

I've always had a 6100 in my Trex450 since I converted to Spektrum.

i use a 6100E on my mini titan se and fly it big and wide. Never had any problems. I heat shrink tube the aerials. Now on the mini titan there is a little shelf on the outside of the frame so i dont have to worry about any shielding. Maybe mount it on the outside of the frames instead of inside Gordon?

hmm, Rob you are not flying it very far away 'cos you were in a shed... Yuo still got the G10 frame on yours?
Is the Rx inside the frame or hanging out the back?

I use a 6100 in my glider and Zagi. No issues so far except once on the zagi when it was an ity, bity dot. I moved the tx so aerial was perpendicular to the model and got it back okay (as a bit bigger dot).

I am thinking of changing the glider for a 6200 though...

That 450 is still using the Helidirect Superframe V2, although it's had a couple of mods to the frames here and there for access to servo mounting screws etc

The receiver is mounted on the top front tray.

                        Cheers,

I've alway run a 6100 in my 450se v2 & can get it as far away from me as my eyes can see & not had so much as a glitch let alone a fly away.

Thomas Sure if an aerial was to fall off then you might be in trouble but this is surely a preflight check anyway so unless it fell off inthe air wheres the risk?
The 6100 is marketed as park fly but I think it must have been a big park they tested it in

Guess I chime in...I have The 6100E on my blade, on my T450, and on the Cp Pro I'm converting to belt drive. they work great. Of course, I'm still learning to hover and they're never more than 30ft away!!hahaha

i decided to see if i could loose it but i couldnt. i flew as high and as far away as i could control/see it

don't see why you'd pay more really..

only thing i'd say is defiantly put heat shrink on antenas and i cut a bit of the casing away so it can't cut in like it has done in the past for me...

                              cheers,
