  • lube job..

I burned out the elevator servo today in my trex 450XL. after replacing it. went out to fly some more. the fulcrum for the elevator felt really stiff. probably why the servo burned out in the first place. after the heli warmed up inside the house everything was working as it should. Outside temphere is 20*F, so I can only guess the bearings for the elevator fulcrum tightened up or the lube couldn't handle the cold. what do you use to lube the bearings. I have WD-40, a very lite machine oil(sewing), teflon spray. It never crossed my mind that the cold would be a problem. ah, live and learn..
    any suggestions?
    thanks

Maybe hibnerating at that theprature is a consideration.... At what point does the oil become grease ! at 10 degrees below then indor flying may be a better option...

Speak for yourself mate - I finished my lesson after that!!! Great day though - wish i could have got over earlier! Only had to get Pete to take over once when my left thumb went numb from the cold and I couldn't feel it!! Gets cold very quickly after sundown so I think you left at the right time!!!

      All the best

Well, the nice thing about the cold is that when she goes toward my pond she won't sink..haha just kinda skate across. I got some polar fleece to make one of those cover/gloves for the Xmitter. Half way through the second battery. It gets a tad hard to control when you can't feel the thumbs, and they are starting to stiffen up..haha My dog just looks out the window at me, like I'm fricken' nuts. But we'll try again tommorow,..take care
