  • Starting Engine in Winter.

Is it just me or is it more difficult to get the engine started when its 4° C outside. I seem to need heaps of throttle to get it started but it runs at its normal idle speed a few seconds after starting.

It's the temperature of the head and fuel mate. Which goes away once started. By lifting the throttle you are adding more of the stuff that makes it go bang. A bit like a choke in a car. Hope this helps

I did notice yesterday - zero degrees temp - that my little 7AH starter battery simply would not turn the starter over. Now that has to live in the house too to keep it warm.
Bloody cold it was - about 5 mins out in the flying area before back to the pits & warm coffee.
