  • Kontronik let down

Hi All just thought I would mention this, as it appears to be well out of order, bought a JAZZ 40-6-18 about 5 months ago its been working fine on my rex 450 no trouble at all
I switch it on then get puff of smoke from esc a red glow
    the thats it.
I return it to Importekic Alan Fry then returns it to kontronic for repair under there 2 year warrantee,
they then just send it back to me saying not repairable
to exspensive. end off of story.
now thats what I call good service lol its not a cheap esc by far and would expect better than that

    Insist.

If you've not screwed it, then it's defective. Your recourse is with the retailer.

Tell them you want a new one (nicely)- period!

    Best of luck

If you are sure you are not at fault, then push like hell. He cannot walk away from it.

Too many retailers like to pass the buck. What's his problem? All he has to do is return it to the maker, give you a new one & refuse to pay their bill until they credit him with the ESC. It's prob too much work!!

As I undersand it, in the UK, your contract is with the retailer. Under six months after purchase it is up to the retailer to show that you have abused it, or replace it. After six months the onus is on you: in the end, you would have to convince a judge that on the balance of probablilites, you were supplied with faulty goods.

See here for a typical summary: http://www.hants.gov.uk/regulatory/t.../buygoods.html

My guess here is it's the same old story that the dealer and the manufacturer are assuming/hoping they can get away with the old "User Error" card so not our problem

Same thing happened with my T Rex 500 ESC. Robbe didn't want to replace it as they decided it was user error not their problem. They even told bare faced lies about how manty ESC's had gone the same way

Post on the forum and the "worms" soon informed them about the detrimental post I made and lo and behold I got a new ESC. Having said that even though the ESC was replaced as it was faulty the 3 servos it took out when it went tits up are still sitting here in my drawer and cost me £120 to replace as they were toast, not to mention the burnt side frame etc.

Jump up and down as much as you can, it's faulty, they give a two year guarantee so MAKE them honour it.

Saying that, I send a 40-6-18 back with a faulty BEC which was less then 2 years old, they told me it was manufactured over 2 years ago and charges me €50.

I used to think they were the dogs bollocks, now I don't think their products are worth the premium.

..... it's a German thing as Hacker are shyte too, and Mikado are a joke when it comes to supporting its UK customers

Yeah Thomas I was going to add that it's a German thing but avoided it for fear of it being construed as as a 1945 thing

The Germans make some shit hot products and know how to charge for them but their support is poor to abysmal...reminds me of good old Nobrot Grutjens from the Ikarus days

Not the point. The warranty is from sale. If this worked, they could make it, store it for 2 years, then sell it.

Jimmyo----scream from the rooftops. Threaten. They certainly won't want a small claims court action. Sounds trivial for an ESC, but that's how they see it.

Write a letter /email.....new ESC or action.

Sorry Jimmyo if I'm teaching Granny to suck eggs.

Sale of Goods Act. Products must be of merchantable quality. If not, they are breaking the law.

5 months, no abuse is not of merchantable quality.

I guess this is an example of taking care to pick a good retailer... The good ones will realise that good service usually results in repeat business so it's worth their while to give it.

I had a Lipo go puffy and mentioned this on the forum (stating that it could have been my fault). Within hours, Ade at Hobby Hangar contacted me and promised a replacement without being asked - He even sent it before I had returned the old one!!

Worth finding a good retailer who's interested in good service...
