  • FF7 Arrived

    Hi
Just got my new FF7 and its charging away right now.

But is it me or do the new Futaba Trannys feel very cheap in the hands?

FF8 feels far better to hold.

But looking forward to setting up my Shuttle on it and the Raptor
for this weekend. Hopefully I can set the Raptor up a bit better and
feel better. Will feel better having Throttle Hold and Cut available.

Also helping a few more Beginner heli flyiers out....

Does a FF8 not have Throttle hold then ? would seem odd not to but heli requirements have changed over the years.
I remember the invert switches (not that I flew heli then or for that matter ever saw an inverted heli! Circuit flying was a novelty back in those days, the Schluter Scout 60 was the beast of choice I seem to remember)

the 8 definitely has throttle hold.

The low end futabas do seem to have lost a lot of the quality feel they used to have.

I think part of the reason for this is that there isnt much difference in the software between the 7 and 9c so they have to give you some reason to upgrade!

        Hi
The 8 has throttle hold but my Tranny is well... not exactly behaving
itself by any means and throttle hold doesnt wotk!

Also for CCPM you need the FF8super and mines the 8u.

So for the Pred Gasser thats comming had to get a new tranny so the FF7 fits the bill best for the money.

          instruction book.....

Some reason from turn on my gyro responds to the idle up
switch and I cannot find the way to setup idle up 1 & 2.

          any help welcome....

What channel do you have the gyro gain plugged into?

is the gyro screen enabled? I normally leave it inhibitted and do the gain with the atv/end point adjustment of channel 5.

              Hi
its my Raptor so Channel 5 is heading hold or normal mode.

              same as on my FF8.

But for some reason on my FF7 the idle up switch is doing the
              gyro.... very strange.

Got to be a setting somewhere....

                http://www.futabarc.com/manuals/7c-manual.pdf

                page 72 onwards.

The stock location for the gyro setup is the idle up switch (dont ask me why it just is!). I would change it to switch B.

Seems like a bad default to me, especially when using a Futaba gyro than needs to be powered up in AVCS and thus IdleUp. I started my Raptor50 once in Idleup and its not nice having to hold the head while the engine eats a new clutch in about 15 seconds. Never doing that again (touch wood)!

you can set the figures to what ever you want. Personally I would just push it to switch B and forget about it.
