on the sim.
but its all very well practising on the sim ending up really low. Practise on the sim wih it high, looking at he underside of the heli as it is flying, or when you do it for real it doesn't feel in control until you get it quite low and can look down on it - which is asking to crash really!
Most seem to flip into inverted, stop half way through a back flip. Then hover nose in inverted. This way you have to get the roll correct but the elevator is still natural, so you are less likely to fly it towards you with a wrong stick input!
I'm happy nose in and side on now, but bricking it tail in for more than a few seconds!

Dont spend more flying models than it costs to fly for real
As Moyes said below..fly the model as you would at the field

You'll be surprised how stable helis are inverted, it is no different from the sim.
Political Correctness is a doctrine fostered by a delusional, illogical, liberal minority, and rabidly promoted by an unscrupulous mainstream media, which holds forth the proposition that it is entirely possible to pick up a turd by the clean end.

Two sets of mnemonics have helped me moving into inverted:
1) TOWARDS disk/ AWAY FROM disk: correspond to the elevator moving TOWARDS you or AWAY FROM you, and also the nose moving towards or away from the rotor disk. This works both ways up, but seems more difficult than:
2) PUSH up/ PULL down: pushing the elevator away from you moves the nose up, and conversely pulling it towards you moves the nose down.
In addition:
Tail: look at the point closest to you.
Collective: is obviously reversed and is not usually a problem.
Aileron: remains exactly the same as right way up, in that right aileron tail in inverted rolls to the right.
Oh, and Sim your socks off!
Hope that helps.

After you have flipped to inverted to nose in then pulling on the elevator draws the heli towards you whilst pushing the elevator away pushes the heli away.
Also keep doing right way up in between as your brain will momentarily forget after doing inverted for a while.
