check the tail shaft if you have not put a new one on, i one time had the pully on the shaft slipping when i gave the heli a burst of power the shaft was strait but the pulley was slipping when under pressure i did not spot this for a long time cas the pin was in the pulley but the pulley is made in two parts i think , its not the same heli as yours but maybe worth a look cheers jim

Thanks Rob, I've checked that and even experimented with it being tight loose, and just right, and that doesn't seem to have any effect at all, even when the tail belt is spot on the problems still persist.
Rob cheers mate, the motor pinion to main gear mesh is spot on, and can easily be moved by hand without any tight spots or binding.
Thank you too Jim, I've been over that countless times mate and everything seems to be fine in that regard.
Its the vibration that's concerning me most, with my new 325 red blades she vibrates fast and in small amounts, and there very tight in the blade grips, yet a pair of older 325's which are in perfect condition and fit in the grips easier makes the heli jump from skid too skid, and if an attempt was made to take off a blade would hit the deck before she took flight.
Hell if I know right now?sigpicWayne AKA OB1

Cheers mate, the only thing I can think of is the Rota Housing got damaged in my last accident, and is causing the vibrations, or the chassis shaft bearings have got damaged, but there's no slop in the shaft, I'm really stumped on this one for sure?sigpicWayne AKA OB1

Coudl it be your new red blades are too tight? Too tight means you will get vibrations....
Too loose and the blades swing wildly as your first start to spool up, my woodies have small dents at the trailing edge where they hit the blade grips they swing tha far, so I'm sure you could imagine your heli could easily jump from skid to skid when this happens!
I don't knwo how tight blades should be, but maybe try putting the old ones in and tighten them to the level the red ones are right now? Just as an experiment, then spool up a little to see if the vibes are just as bad....
Just a though.... I'm sure others can speak up if this is a bad idea!

hi wayne to eliminate the blades try and spool up without them on and even take the paddles off and try that if the head is still vibrating then it wont be them best to look down on the head ,all i can think of at the momentTrex 550e dfc :-)

If you say that there was a lack of power accompanied by screaching have you checked the motor bearings?
If at some stage the mesh was too tight then this could have prematurely aged the bearings in the motor. May also be attributing to the vibes?

Many thanks SH, there's already a brand new blue high strength main gear on the shaft mate, the other one got well and truly mullered.
Trebor thank you, my red 325's are tight and the vibrations are of short but fast duration, when I attach another pair of 325's which are looser in the blade grips and the 450 doesn't vibrate it practically breakdances, sodding thing, the laws of flying problems always seem to jump ship with my birds, lol.
Brin great idea mate, I'll do that tomorrow, from what I've read on the net when a vibration raises it's ugly head they can be bleeders to locate.
Adrian, thanks bud, when I attached the new motor she flew great and had about 30 flights, the screeching seemed to occur about 8 flights after installing the tail gearbox, I don't know if this is just happenstance, but right now I'm not sure what to think, plus the slight screeching sound only occurs in flight when upping or lowering the throttle, and never when the heli is held while testing?sigpicWayne AKA OB1

Just a thought but could the plastic belt gear be slipping on the tail rotor output shaft? This is the reason I changed your last output shaft. Nothing to do with the vibration but could be one reason why the tail is twitching (apart from the vibrations).Originally posted by cambs flyer View PostAdrian, thanks bud, when I attached the new motor she flew great and had about 30 flights, the screeching seemed to occur about 8 flights after installing the tail gearbox, I don't know if this is just happenstance, but right now I'm not sure what to think, plus the slight screeching sound only occurs in flight when upping or lowering the throttle, and never when the heli is held while testing?

Heavens if I know at this point, I'll be doing some tests tomorrow, but basically apart from the screeching sound she's flying like she did before my bad crash 4 weeks back?sigpicWayne AKA OB1

OK major update to my problem.
Just before my dance of death with a brick wall, a week earlier I kind of "drifted off" while flying, why I don't know, I totally lost my concentration, and once I'd woke up and realised my 450 was about to take my legs off I moved and the blades it the street lamp and down she went.
This was where my few months of hell started.
Well after going over everything today I re-binded her with the settings I keep on another channel within the DX6i (T500 Ch1 & Ch3, T450 Ch2 & Ch4) so I re-binded her with the original settings that were spot on before all of this (ch4) as I'd been playing about with Ch2's settings and getting no where.
So anyway not expecting any difference I fired her up, no vibrations, launched her smooth, rock solid tail, the awesome power was back again, my Bird had come back from the dead Hooray! (he says not wanting to tempt fate)
While Mike was here he mentioned about the crappy tail rod which under even a slight load buckled, so the old carbon rod was put back, and the alloy fin/rod stay was put back on, luckily with my spares collection I had the correct screws as I'd lost a few after the wall accident.
So basically after all of this she's no worse for wear, looks brand new apart from the canopy which I used a black marker felt tip to hide the scratches, I've got a new one in the wings, but see no point changing it over as when flying you'd never know it'd been scratched.
So plenty of test flights tomorrow, but so far everythings A-OK.
Plus Mike said she sounded perfectly fine, so a second opinion gave me great piece of mind.sigpicWayne AKA OB1
