  • OS Max SX 50 (Blue Head)

Hi All, got an OS Max SX on my Raptor and was using MT Contest 10 fuel with the standard pipe. Have now fitted an Align tuned pipe, and run a few tanks on my Contest 10 fuel, and no tuning seemd to be required ! A few of the flyers down at my field agreed that it seemed to just about the right sound and fume colour after I asked them, so I was pleased I did not have to adjust any of the needle settings. However, with my flying skills improving I am now experimenting with idle up and throttle hold, and whilst I need to know the difference between these two (maybe another thread!), I'm told I should change my Nitro, are there any rules of thumb to follow on deciding, I know I need to keep the same ration of oil, which I think is 18%, but do I go for a fuel with 15, 20 or 30% mix and why? I know the more nitro keeps it cooler? Thanks in advance for any tips !

If you're happy with the performance of your engine, why bother to increase nitro content? It will certainly empty your wallet faster Running idle-up doesn't need more nitro so try setting it up and see if you've got enough go.

By the way, I used to use contest 10% fuel, now I might just use it for lighting the barbeque! It contains a proportion of castor oil in it which leave the brown crud on your exhaust and gums up the engine internally, swap to a fully synthetic fuel, there are enough discussions about them on other threads at the moment

I use Model Technics ProPower 16 in my OS Hyper 50 in a Rappy 50 and it works very well.

Its fully synthetic and comes in UK gallons and is very clean running fuel. Locally, its the cheapest for me as well.

If you wait long enough you will be told not to touch Model Technics fuel so I thought I would get in first.

      Cheers

OS Max SX 50 (Blue Head)

Thanks all, I must admit, my original pipe was covered in a brown mess, I had a bad gasket and the rubber pipe was not tight enough, so I thought the mess was just coming from there! Imgine what its doing in the engine! I will look in the full synthenics for sure!
