Can't say I blame, don't like them much myself

You get what you pay for when it comes to speed controllers, I had nothing but grief with my 450s, blowing up, glitching and cutting out - then I fitted a Jazz and not had a problem since - you pay loads for them but you save on spares in the long run. I now only run Jeti and Jazz in my models now.

i'am sure that the spec said that the motor was a 42a and a 55a esc was recomended is this correct

finally had time to sort this out i ditched the scorpion 35amp and put in the 60amp esc i took it up to the club yesterday and mark did a test flight for me it deliverd the power very smothly and had lots of punch what a relief but it also showed up another problem
that i was looking an answer for ,the tail kicking issue i had i have now found the reason ,the tail blade assembly was sliping on the end of the shaft so hopefully this weekend i'll be back to training

thankls for that wayne .when mark had it in the air it was rock steady it was only when he wacked the power on the tail kicked round so he tried it a few times same thing then he said the tail was not keeping up with the head speed problem solved .now thats the benefit of belonging to a club you get a lot of help from the pros .

I have also had problems here in my trex 500 with a scorpion 1400 motor that i bought at wings and wheels from andy,i carried on using the standard motor untill it packed up a couple of weeks ago,so i decided to use the new scorpion 1400 that i bought and also decided to buy the right speed controller which was the 60 amp commander,i orderd the esc from fastlads and as usaul first class service arrived the next day,eager to put it in the trex i
set it up on the table to programme up the esc and spooled it up and bingo, it puffed out smoke ....thought it must be the esc at fault so i rang up fast lads and thay sent out another to me,great once again set it up on the table and the same thing happend set the throttle up spooled it up and presto....it smoked again.....soi i rang andy up at micron told him what had happend he was great on the phone and told me to send both items back to him, which i did.the next day he rang me to confirm that the motor was shorting on 2 wires which had caused my speedcontroller to blow......so he sent me replacments out which arrived the very next day..........

so there i was nowing everything was going to go to plane and i would be able to fly the following weekend....did i not see this comming......


put the new motor and esc together srewed the motor in the 500 did not mate it to tight on the maingear used a ciggerate papper to get spacing between the pinnion gear and main drive,spooled it up and guess what, the speedcontroller was so hot i thought the srink rap arround it was going to melt,

so once again i rang up Andy and he was lost, so he rang climout and climout told me its got to be the set up on my 500 which i thought was strange considering it has been flying ok on the align motor till it packed up......

so now climout ask me to send the motor and speed controller of to them,that was 2 weeks ago,today i rang them up and thay have put it in a 500 with the same specs as mine and thay also discoverd that the speedcontroller was getting to hot,so thay used another new speedcontroler which thay said was working ok and good news its due back here on thursday......

and will be for sale on friday don't think i trust scorpion after the hassal i had with a motor and 2 esc......

I too have first hand seen a scorpion esc burst into flames, at the hands of a very good pilot, strange i thought, he never usually crashes, then flames, ahh thatll be the problem then, and there wasnt a great deal of the esc left and it took a few other bits n bats with it. But on the other hand i know of people who have had no problems at all with scorpion kit. So its a bit............... do i or dont i really!

finally managed to get some bats through my 450 today with the 60amp esc and it was as smooth as silk so i am very happy at the moment, lets see how long it will last before it goes up in smoke
