esc disappointment

I'd just check it to be sure as it could easily be the motor!

how would i check it without causing damage to another esc and what should i look out for

i spoke to andy at micron radio control today and he has kindly asked me to send it back to him he will check it over and send a replacement if he cant fix it

hi all as yesterday was a wet day here in london i spent the afternoon in my mates garage he also has a scorpion esc comander series brand new so we set it up in my heli
and as with the other one we had problems after spooling up we managed to get it up to full throttle a few times then it was as if there was no curent coming through or very little so after messing around a while we put it into his 450 witch has the same motor and rx and servos but it was exactly the same could it be that scorpion dosnt like the align motor or could we be unlucky to have two duff esc's

I wouldn't of thought there be two esc with the same fault, if the motor/servo is the common thing, then its surely the answers.. what is still in use from the last one that broke.

Are they the same spec 35amp? still thinks thats low

They only have a 3amp bec any binding, loading could be frying the bec maybe

Do you have the timing set to automatic?
timing can be critical to getting motors to start. If it is too far out then the motor can just buzz and not start. Maybe you can find a timing recommendation fo rthe align motor, but usually automatic will work fine. Just maybe you set the timing to a particular value and it isn't suiting the align motor.

on the scorpion esc there is a setting for start boost to help sturbourn motors this is set to max and it is set on auto

still not getting anywere with this esc ,have posted a message in rc groups to lucien miller of innov8tive designs who has set himself up to answer all questions on his motors and esc's waiting for a reply http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/member.php?u=230971.
also posted with trexmad last post 2 days ago still waiting for a reply.so i have put back the align esc and i'll just have to be carefull not to open the throttle to quickly and set the timer on my tx so at the moment not enjoying this hobby on the happy side i am trying to decide wether to pick up a 250 or the mcx or both hehe

If you set the esc to be all defaults using the programming card it should be fine, who did you get it from at Hop Farm? If it is a faulty one, which is rare, theyre good for the warranty !

got it from micron radio control ,run a test on it and sent me a new one no quibbles.

Can't say I blame, don't like them much myself

You get what you pay for when it comes to speed controllers, I had nothing but grief with my 450s, blowing up, glitching and cutting out - then I fitted a Jazz and not had a problem since - you pay loads for them but you save on spares in the long run. I now only run Jeti and Jazz in my models now.

Id team it up with a Scorpion motor as well.... you wont be dissapointed

can you recomend a good combo for the 450

For you Id say go for the 10 turn, similar kv but has more torque, the rest are insane 3Ders and eat batteries in minutes.

am i right in thinking that the 10 turn is the hk-2221-10 v2 in which case i would need a 55amp esc or would the 15v 60a heli esc v2 be a better option given that it is two 30a back to back that fits into the frame better
