  • Whoo hoo! Trex600n Maidened!

Well I'm over the moon. She flew beautifully! Far far FAR better than my Zoom 450!

    It's was just amazing!

Out of the box the baldes tracked perfectly! Heli was 100% balanced too! I was really impressed! I couldn't beleive how stable she hovered!

As my side/nose-in hovering aint great, I just did a quick 360 degree piro, and one power out.... Loved every one of the ~8 minutes of flying!

    Going again tomorrow evening....

Thank you for everyones help on here! It was invaluble!

One further question.. How do you guys "tune" your engines? With planks it's easy.. You hold the plane and throttle up to full.. Heli's are a little tougher.... Guess you must spool up, spool down, up, down, up down...... Sounds like a pain.... I'll lean her out a little after I've had a couple more tanks through.. ( 1 so far)

I'll upload a vid of my maiden later once I've worked out how to convert it something smaller than 500MB for 6 minutes!

    Cheers
    Rob

And here is the not very exciting video clip. But evidnace of the maiden all the same. I needed to reduce the gyro gain down 15% to small amount of tail wag, hence the landings....

Watching that shows you have more than enough control to ditch those training legs.

Thanks for all the praise guys, but I don't think I feel totally worthy of it! :-D

The training legs were only on for that extra margin of safety for the maiden flight. Thier off already and will be off for my next flight this afternoon!

It felt fan bl**dy tastic yesterday! Though it did take 30 minutes for my hands to stop trembling! ;-)

I'm very impressed with the whole setup to be honest! I seem to have ZERO ccpm interaction at full +'ve and -'ve cyclic, the tail and JR 770T behaved impecably for just hovering, Gain is down at 20%!!!! 30% had a bit of tail wag that phased in and out....

1 smooth, but not too slow piroette and a punch out, just to see, and thats was enough for my nerves! lol....

I can't really say thanks enough for all the help i got on here...

            Cheers
            Rob

PS Just in case people where wondering what the hell I was doing on the ground.. I kept hitting throttle hold instead of flicking the gyro into rate mode to center the tail.... lol....
