  • Maidened my new....

Twister CP V2.1 today, first time in the garden this morning with calm weather. Came in still intact.

Then this afternoon I took her out again, was dying to fly but wind was blowing a howler. It's only supposed to be 6 gusting 8 now, but it was stronger than that, my sister reckoned the line off the linepost was well out at one point. Anyway, decided that I had to try, so here we go, still novice pilot, gusty winds, and a heli that is only 3/4 the size of the Blade 400, recipe for disaster. Spun up, got her light on the training gear (heck yeah, didn't think I was that daft to try and fly a new heli w/out that did ya? ) Got her up, gust of wind and up then down, then sideways, getting pretty darned close to the bushes I can tell you.

About 6 minutes later I thought I could see the little blue beacon light, telling me to land, wasn't surprised, after all she was having to use a fair bit of power in that weather, so brought her in, put her spare LiPo in, and off again. Another 10 minutes or so later and finally landed to re-charge, the wind's died a bit now, so hopefully will give her another outing later.

Verdict, gotta say I love this heli, and quite pleased with my own ability, she's still intact, and although a couple of landings were a bit harsh, she stood the test well. That training gear and all the time on Phoenix with 20+ MPH wind has paid for itself today alone.

I am now officially RCHeliaddicted. 110%. Can't wait for the w/end.

        Ooops, oh dear!!

Pushed my luck a bit too far tonight. Tried to get one last flight in before it got completely dark, unfortunately it did get a bit too dark and windy to fly, result:

        broken tail boom,
        broken skid.

I guess it had to happen sooner or later, glad it was the little one and not my 400 though.

        Do-Do occurs.

Nice one John, sorry it finished hitting the deck, but it sounds like a cheap repair so you'll be up and running in next to no time.
