I belive you and Richard about your reliability with your Xtremes, but I can only report on the 3 X50's at our club and the experience with mine. Country & Western has had 5 weeks in a row with problmes with his either crashing or grounded. OK one week was a tranny programming error, but the other 4 where mechanical failures. Maybe they're just having a run of bad luck. Maybe it's my turn next month with my Aligns!!!!!

You're more than welcome to have a fly of my 700. But the usual rules apply. Whoever's holding the tranny pays for any damage. Qal flew it last Sunday. Was slightly papping it as my 700 is only a couple of weeks old. Have you flown one yet?

                  • bloody hell richard you gunna take the chance.i wouldnt bother mate.nice of the chap to offer tho.joking...thats what i like a friendly trex flyer but if its machine failure who ever was holding the tx was the unlucky one and shouldnt be held to pay.if the pilot crashes it with pilot error then thats a different story.

Mmmmmm. I feel another debate starting about who pays when flying other people's helis!!!

Anyway Richard. I forgot to tell you to bring your rubber gloves if you want to fly my 700. I've still got my 14MZ and I forgot you've got a Futaba allergy!!!!

                      • just because somebody is flying X model doesnt make a model good. Stefan won clubman with a raptor 90 ffs... probably the worst flying 90 available.

i can make a knight/600n/raptor 50 do the same moves look the same give a bit of time to get tuned into the model/setup. what changes is the pilot work load. which brings us back to martins knight sport with cheap servos, it flew, did the moves but due to the lack of accuracy i had to think more and fly the model more to get it to do what i wanted it to do.

point is, a good pilot can make any model LOOK good to a spectator, however theres nothing like flying the model whilst getting that pilot to explain to you why he loves that model so much.

                        • Guys.

It's all about what machine you are comfortable with. I love my x50's and yes they have given me some challenges over the last 5 weeks, I put this down to a knock on effect from my 1st parts failure since I built it over 12 months ago which resulted in the heli hitting the deck head first. I believe that I have now got back to a solid build and I am sure it will fly well.

Tin Tin offered to let me have a go with his 700 but I declined due to it being an Align driven by a Futaba tranny the risk factor went up by 60%.

Futaba or JR....................................that is the question?????

not true as that is the model that you are currently flying :-)

at the end of the day almost all the models will do what most sport fliers will want of it. some are better than others some are more money than others some have more blink some come from a manufacturer that has a good rep for quality, some are just damn well marketed.

my recomendation is that if your looking at buying any model, try to fly them all first, take into account that perticular models setup when your flying it and do some research.

a lot of people seem to think its sponsored pilots jobs to fly the model well. but its way more than that, its giving people the information they need to decide if the model is for them or not. That is exactly the reason why i let people fly my models. if im not confident in the person or the person is nervous of flying somebody elses model then i plug the buddy lead in.

i also make a point of flying others models too, it helps them with their setup and keeps me intouch with how other models fly so i can do my "job" better.
