Has anyone purchased the new RJX Xtreme 90? I currently fly 2 RJX Xtreme 50's and I am wondering if anyone can share their views on this new Heli? I have seen the Align 700 and it flys as good as it looks. This is the dilema do I stick with the RJX Xtreme or defect to the 700. My experience of the RJX Xtreme 50 is fantastic, it looks good, is well spec'd and flys very positive a match for most 50 size machines. Having seen the 700 I have been very impressed and I need views on the Xtreme 90 to compare.

I was lucky to build and fly one of the prototypes
I will be upset when I have to give it back
This is the model that Mr. Clubman 3D (Master Simmons) flew at North Notts Fly-in and wouldn't give me the TX back !
Anything I say may therefore be considered biased by the align mafia
so before I have to give it back, wht not come along to my club (about 40 minutes from you) and have a go - Then you can make your own mind up
note - usual rules apply - you bend it - you mend it!!!

What a way to start yer posting career!! Ive had the rjx50 may still get the 90, have built 5 700's and flown them and am now repairing a vibe 90.Originally posted by walkerc View PostYou must by the T-Rex 700.RJXSh1t.
One thing i will say about the rjx's they can be fiddly to setup because of the programmable head, but ask anybody with a synergy or avant about programmable heads and they will all tell you they can be a pain in the arse!!. If the head aint right itll fly like shite, but if the heads correct itll fly like a beauty. From my experiance with my x50 it was light, well balanced, extremely agile (makes a t600 feel like a raptor in comparison) and tracked very well. And from reports ive had from the 90 its business as usual. Now i had some wear and tear issues with my x50 but in 3 months i racked up over 350 flights on her and the issues were some bearings and the fozzy bronze bush in the washout. And these were replaced once iirc. Not bad in 350+ flights. I have known a t600 nsp owned by a friend of mine he replaces his mainshaft bearings every3 gallons ish and other stuff just fatigues, and iirc he had a tail gear strip in flight for no reason other than a bit worn (5 gallons old never touched floor). My point here is people slag off the newer helis as crap and unreliable, i say look at aligns track record at the moment. I have to admit the align helis are very good and fly extremely well(god that hurt) but some of the reliability issues ie pitch links not being drilled right is unexcusable. So unless youve flown an extreme back to back with an align ( i have) you sir are in no position to say such a statement. And very soon i will be in the unenviable position where i will be able to fly a 700, vibe, raptor, and x90 back to back and in my capacity as a shite 3d wanna bee give an opinion on these helis for the real pilot, and not 3d flying demi-gods.

well said kev
i also own a trex 600 with every upgrade available and an extreme 50
not done a great deal with the x50 yet as i have only put 3 tanks through the new engine ,so still running in.
but i can say at the moment it does fell a lot more positive than the t600
so yes until you try both back to back, your in no postion to comment.
i have seen richard fly the x90 and it's a very capable machine.
cheers

you cannot compare the trex600 to the x50..before we had built and flown the x50 a few people said they were crap...i will Never listen again.the x50 is stunning and fly's far better.the trex is cheap and cheerful(great for the money tho)but then again i dont understand why people buy trex 600s when they can have the knight 50(which is better than the rex and cheaper).im sure the rjx will make a good name for itself.just ask stefan which 50 hes happy with at the moment.and i dare anyone to attend our field with a trex(its a knight 3d field)but the lads on the field know that the rjx is the BEST 50 heli and the knight's the best at its price..KEEP A LOOK OUT FOR THE XTREME 90..IT LOOKS STUNNING

I have had experience at owning a 600N and X-Treme 50 at the same time. The X50 is a very good heli. However I sold it as I had too many issues with the X50.
First of all there are inconsistencies wil the kits. Some came with the correct head screws and others didn't. There has been some issues with the alluminium being too soft for the head parts. The blade grip control arms bend for fun. You can bend them by simply picking the heli up! And at £16 plus VAT a pair, they're not cheap. There have been some problems with the head block on the new X90 as well.
Every sinlge week that I flew the X50, I had to do some work on it for the next weekend. Both of my 600's are flown, put away, charged up and ready to fly the next week. The X50 never flew as good (for me anyway) as my 600's especially my SP.
RJX were a major sponsor of this year's 3D Masters (see the green T-shirts). However their demo flights were a farce. They had only one X90 ready to fly which had a problem with its engine I gathered. One of their sponsored UK pilots was not at the Masters as he had just started a new job at McDonalds! They had to "borrow" a Spanish pilot who was not familiar with the heli. Then to top it all the demo flight was at the same time as Tariq flew that awesome demo flight on the Saturday night. So which flight were you watching?
I've nothing against the X50. Two of my mates have them, but for me they are just too "home made" and no matter what anybody tells me, the parts are more expensive than Align. However I wish RJX good luck with their X90 but the 700 will take some beating.

ill agree to a point here the 700 will take some beating cos it flies like an expensive 90 at 50 money. But as to the parts being more expensive than the align stuff, COME ON theyre are exactly the same if not cheaper and the importer is 20 mins from my house and 10 from yours!!! Some of the ally had a rep for being cheese like in consistancy, but after speaking to frank (owner of rjx) at the masters, it turns out the company was falsely sold a batch of inferior ally when a better grade was specified and there is a legal battle over there to sort it out. My kit was made of said cheesy ally and yes some bits bent for fun but King Cobra the uk importer replaced these bits FREE OF CHARGE as they knew of the problem and were willing to help. The pitch link bars are also designed to bend so it takes the energy out in a crash in a vain attempt to save the blades, Didnt work for me but never had a problem in flight and im harsh on the sticks at the best of times. So i put this to you, compare your nsp to stefans x50 assuming yours is also setup for crack manouvres etc looking at your spec it is, and against my k3d (if my servos ever fookin arrive) £10 the x50 wins hands down.

I saw Shane Egan fly the X50 and a 600NSP back-to-back at the Blackburn Fly In this summer in Witton Park and I have to say that both looked very closely matched. Perhaps the 600 looked slightly better but that's only my opinion!
Yes my pitch control arms bent whilst picking up my heli but I was charged for a new set even though there is a known problem with them. I know they are to act as a "fuse" in case of a crash, but two X50's had bent arms at our club last Sunday and they were only doing basic 3D flying. I don't agree that parts are cheaper than Align and that's also the view of my mate who has one!
It was the second year at the 3D Masters for RJX and I certainly don't think they got value for money in terms of sponsorship of the event as their demo flights were very poor. Look at Ely-Q for their first showing at the 3D Masters! Yes you could argue that Ely-Q are a much bigger company, but it was very poor preparation for RJX.
I'm not knocking the X50 but just putting a view on my experience with it compared to my 600's. As for the bet, well I'm no expert 3D flyer (yet!), but for my style of flying the 600 suits me better.
Another factor to consider is availability of spare parts. Align parts are easy to get hold of. Whilst building my X50 one of the screws for the leg supports was the incorrect length and the distributor could not get me one of the correct length. It doesn't inspire confidenece!

not the 50 walkerc, but im supposed to be picking up the 90 very soon. Only sold my 50 cos it was deemed sacrilage to crash it as often as i do, cos im trying to intensely learn decent 3d moves and i keep dumb thumbing it. A k3d for the mo suits my needs better cos if i write off a £600 heli ill cry! if i write off a £250 one ill just buy another!!! i want the 90 to be my competition heli for next year IF i can fly well enough for comps. Oh and just so everybody knows ive owned every align going EXCEPT the 700 and nsp but have flown them all even incluing the very first 450!!Originally posted by walkerc View PostSorry Kev.Do you still have your RJX?Last edited by steelie600; 24-09-2008, 11:53 AM.

I know what your saying and i fully sympathise, and the masters was a sham for them imo, what with shane thinking hes better at macdonalds instead of the world championships, WHAT A T*SSER! If i could fly to a decent standard id have volunteered to beat the shit out of it for bob and frank and i really felt sorry for them as i know how much the sponsorship cost!! That issue with the fuse bars bending go to king cobra themselves not rossendale models and speak to bob about it im sure hell sort something, richard is a brilliant lad but its his dads company so speak to the boss as it were. As to the ely-q situation they must be piling HUGE amounts of cash into the operation how else would you get markus kim and danny szabo to fly them the 50 looks terrible granted the avant is the best 90 about PERIOD. but i know some one who was given an ely q to try and he cant give the fookin thing away looks like a cheap raptor copy with ccpm!!Originally posted by Nutter View PostKev

I think what im trying to say is RJX is a new and upcoming brand and they could be destined foe great things imo. But it does have certain conditions!

Sorry to keep going on about the pitch arms, but Richard knew of the ally problem and I bought the heli off him not King Cobra. Anyway, its "water under the bridge" now as I've sold my X50.
I agree that Shane let them down at the 3DM, but the X90 was supposed to be demoed to all those potential heli buyers at the 3DM. So, why was there only one set up? I also agree with you about RJX being an up and coming brand, but it does need marketing properly and I'm sure that going back to Country and Western's original post, the X90 will be a superb heli BUT it has to compete with the 700 and have the backup that it deserves.
