  • trex 600 nsp maiden.....

    ...will occur soon!

She's virtually all set up. I got round the servo arms rubbing by trimming and shaping the ends with my Dremel... Gyro clears the canopy after binning (well throwing in my spares box) the gyro plate and mounting the gyro directly to the tops of the servo's (Thanks Jason for that tip!).

Now I've set the head up about the best I can...
    At 0 degrees pitch:
    Washout arms straight.
    Mixer arms straight

Total collective pitch is +-13 degrees....
    Total elevator/rollpitch is +-9 degrees....
Should I reduce the above two using the ccpm mixing menu on my JR tx? Currently all settings are:
    Pitch: +60%
    Aileron: -60%
    Elevator : +60%

+/-9 degrees sounds a lot for elev/aileron... I think there is maybe a touch of binding at full ail/elev. If I "swirl" the right stick the head seems to rotate slightly. Possibly the swash is just touching the collar at the top main bearing when full -'ve on pitch and full roll/pitch is put in....

Now all I need to do is tidy the last few servo wires away, balance the main blades and then it's time to spool her up to do the tracking!

I've checked for CCPM interactions using a spirit level bubble on my paddles. I see nothing going center stick, full +'ve and full -'ve on the collective.... This makes a huge change from my Protech Zoom 450 where the swash "swims" up and down with collective! I can actually watch the swash move up/down unevenly, can't see a damn on the trex!

Sorry for the long post YET AGAIN! I always seem to have so many questions!
Hoping someone will say, "Hey that doesn't sound right!" if I vomit enough of my brain onto the page!

    Cheers
    Rob

    Hi Rob,

I was flying my 600nsp yesterday and found it bogging with 14% of pitch both + & - so I backed off the pitch in the swash mix in the TX a whole 7% from 60% to 53% and found the heli not only stopped bogging but actually did climbouts much faster having done this, Could then do sustained tic toc no problem after making the adjustments.

Of course we have all heard "The more the better" but in this case it works fine for me easing the pitch off a little.

Good luck with the maiden flight, They are great helis..

What sort of pitch range should I back it off too? I could go +-12 for now, that's mentioned in the Align manual... Well it says +-10 -> 12 degrees I think....

It doesn't say anything for aileron/elev throws though.... +-9 sounds a little rich to me, but I only have Finless Bob's videos to go on.. he normally set's up for +-7 if I remember correctly....

Pitch is now at 12% both + & - but have left the throws very fast on both aileron and elevator for flips/Rolls and a few 3D moves I attempt.

Thanks mate! I'll knock the pitch back to 12 degrees then.... I think I'll drop my aileron/elevator throws back to 7 degrees for now as I don't have a huge amount to go on for recommended throws for them... I guess I can always increase it again if need be!

            I run +/-13pitch
            7 on cyclics

            Seems about spot on.
            Doesn't bog in climb-outs
Roll rate is pretty fast, as are the flips(running Stubz, flips are much faster than standard paddles).

9deg on cyclics sounds quite a lot, I would back it down to start with, and then increase it if need be.
            Align T-Rex 600n Pro (Now with 3GX)
            Align T-Rex 500CF(Gone)
            Align T-Rex 450 Pro
T-REX 250, had it since crimbo(bloody tail) want to smash it with a hammer
            T-Rex 700......STUNNING (Thirsty) (Now with 3GX)

No plank flyers were hurt whilst making this post

              Hi rob

Sounds to me like you got it set up spot on. Just for info I run 12 pos and neg. 0 mid stick. Like you I have 9 degrees of cyclic. Like you say, knock it back in the swash menu and go from there. Sounds sorted to be honest though mate. Just knock that pitch range down a bit.
              Pete

But now I have a problem! I'm running out of excuses to go fly her! :-(
Just need to Balance the main blades now and tidy the surplus wiring near the RX....
                Beginning to get nervous now!

                Thanks again for everyones help!

                Cheers
