Well I did my first flips today with the 450 SE V2. Checking my flight log (yes I'm sad enough to keep one) I find that it has taken me 265 flights (25 hours) and 3 crashes to get this far since starting with this bird in October last year.
Is this a record ?
Whatever - I am still totally made up. The first two flips were very messy with far too much collective, mostly at the wrong time. She bounced all over the sky. Luckily I started from a steady hover at 5,000 feet (well, let's call it 50) so there was plenty of time to recover. Landed to let my heart rate return from wherever it went and to allow my buttocks to unclench. Swapped packs, had a breather and tried again. Gentler on the collective but will need to do lots of work on cyclic co-ordination to stop the rotation when horizontal.
Back to the SIM for a while with the wind turned right up
Just had to share a great day with you guys
