  • forced auto from 30-40ft!1st one!

afternoon all! well ive just been out with my k3d and did a couple of tanks!
was just trying to nail my flips and tidy up my circuits!on the second tank was practising my flips when my mate made the comment of your fuel looks pretty low !i thought he meant in the main tank so answered got that and the header tank left and said the dreded!!! one more flip and ill bring it in!
so i took it up to 30 plus feet and flipped it but as it got to tail down just entering the inverted part of the flip the engine just cut! my heart stopped at this moment and me legs turned to jelly!lol got the heli upright and level and just panicked and put in full positive!didnt really help things !lol then remembered what i was told by steelie put full negative in let it drop then added collective slowly!felt like hours!think i put to much in as the head speed just went about 1ft from floor but luckily landed level with a bounce of about 6 inches! only ever practised me autos 7-8 times from 6ft maximum and they werent all that so i was very lucky today!

Good stuff BC, I managed to tip my Knight today and the Beam fell out of the sky again. So although we have had perfect weather I am no better for it.

Good to hear of the save

Well done - good tip about the negative and increasing collective - I always used to screw up Autos on Phoenix until I learnt that not so long ago

he needed full neg to spin blades back up as he nearly stopped them with his full positive escapade!!! Talked to him on the fone and he's still shakin now!!!

But yes trick to autos is enough negative to keep blades spinning but as little as possible and itll float down quite nicely and as yer ready to flare out gradually increase collective to slow descent.

Sounds easy doesnt it but the first proper one will give you the willys!!!

                Nice one, good save.
It is amazing how many peoples first autos are due to engines cutting out, was the same for me also, but was a blown piston.

Funny that. It was doing autos when not required that cost me my last heli!
Anyway, good to hear of the save.
Its always nice to come away with it in one piece after a scare.

                    Well done - good save.
I guess it shows that even though you thought your 6ft auto's weren't all that, they must have been as it prepared you for the real thing
                    Cheers, Lee.
