As posted on the 3D Championship homepage yesterday - re-posting here to make sure everyone see's it (hopefully!)
It's been a very rough couple of weeks behind the scenes of 3D Championship, but we've somehow managed to scrape through and have got everything organised around the disaster that is a flooded field!
The field we planned the whole event around is currently under a metre of water, but the land owner has really pulled out all the stops so that we can make this work on higher ground at his facility (huge thanks to Alan at Croft Farm for this!) so we're happy to say it's...
Full steam ahead!
We have planned the weekend out to try and get as much flying in as possible, although we are at the mercy of the weather so plans can change at short notice!
Friday 19th
Transmitter control opens at 10 AM for Fridays Funfly - bring proof of insurance if you want to fly (your BMFA membership card).
Saturday 20th
Pilots briefing is at 9:30 AM
Competitive flights start at 10:00 AM
Saturday 20th - Night flying competition
Introduction and briefing start time will depend on the number of pilots competing. We will start the event later (to allow it to get darker) if less pilots are competing. The earliest we will start would be 7:45 PM for the briefing and 8:00 PM for flights to begin.
Sunday 21st
Pilots briefing is at 9:30 AM
Competitive flights start at 10:00 AM
Flying order will be randomised within each group (Intermediates and Champions) and a listing to show who flys next will be displayed near Transmitter control.
Arriving using SatNav?
If you're arriving using satnav, you need the following details:
Bredons Hardwick, Tewkesbury, Gloucestershire, GL20 7EE
Hopefully that's it. Look out for the signs on the roads when you get near the event venue!
Printed directions
If you want a turn by turn itinerary, try using google maps and follow these instructions:
Click here to go to google maps with the destination centred on the map.
At the top right of the map there are buttons to view Map, Satellite and Terrain, make sure Satellite is selected the Checkbox next to Show labels is checked (should be, by default). You should see the satellite view of the area with an overlay of roads and road names/numbers.
There is a road number B4080 in the middle of the screen. Right click that road number and choose "Directions to here" in the menu that pops up when you right click.
In the sidebar on the left of the screen, enter your postcode (or similar) in box A, then click Get Directions.
The map will zoom out and show a line plotting your course to the event venue.
To get reverse directions
Having printed the directions to the side, you can now reverse the directions. To the right of box A and B where you entered your postcode, click the button with arrows pointing to both boxes. This will reverse the start and finish (A and B), then click Get Directions again.
Wellies!
The weather has been atrocious for quite some time now so the ground will be soft on site. Bring your wellies and wet weather gear, just in case!
Cheers,
Rob
