  • Just Purchased a Belt CP Which Blades to use?

    Hey All.

Just purchased my Belt CP, and it comes with carbon fibre blades and a training gear. should i instantly take off the wood blades and use the carbon blades or stick with the woodies for a bit?

also thinking of getting the full CNC Upgrade kit or maybe just the CNC Head, but it looks way to complicated for me to do, do any of you know the likely cost of a shop doing it for me?

and since this will be my first ever proper heli, any tips before i give her a spin?

    Regards
    Callum

    Hi callum,

definatly you'll want to start with the woodies,

and my tips: you really should think about getting a sim to learn the very basics on before you power her up as other wise your likely to spend the cost of the sim in spares after the first 2 flights!.. phoenix is best!

however it is possible to learn with these things but, make sure you have the training legs on and take little hops to start with.. they are NOT the easiest things to fly

if you have any clubs local it might be worth going down there and they can help you!

    cheers,
    Tom

Right O, thinking of leaving the CNC anyway, but i am going to upgrade the gyro to a HH Gyro,

ive read somewhere i have to mount the gyro sideways, is this correct? or can i mount it flat (like the already installed gyro)

            Many Thanks

I wouldn't change anything (gyro included) until you've well and truely got your hovering sorted out in all orientations. You'll be spending enough on useful spares such as blades (woodies) and feathering shafts, main drive gears etc without wasting your money on CNC heads etc

I started with FMS and thought it was good - until I bought Phoenix (recommended by members on here). Best investment you'll ever make - it will save you thousands in spares. Period

One thing, do some reading on the RC Groups forums and Heliguy.

Adjust the negative pitch for landing to be no more than -2 degrees or you'll have constant boom strikes everytime you land slightly hard! Ask how I know

As for the upgrades leave then untill you can at least hover tail in for the length of your battery pack before you go looking at those

Actually doing the upgrades is relativly easy, Theres plenty of info out there when you need it

                What Tx you using btw?

Congrats with your purchase mate, I hope you have heaps of fun learning the ropes and all.

As the guys say leave her be right now, you need to learn her mannerism's so to provide a baseline where you can improve her flight dynamics, however right now she's an unknown entity, and like everything you need an understanding of what she can do before trying to upgrade parts, too potentially improve her flight characteristics.

I'm unfamiliar with the Sim you've been practicing on, and hopefully you've learned some useful skills from it, but in all honesty you need to have Phoenix now, once you start practicing with it you'll understand why we rave about it, this'll give you a greater level of learning how different settings effect flight, plus it'll offer a unique and virtually real to life weather patterns, and how it effects Helicopter's with gusts, Strong breezes and so on.

You deserve it to yourself to invest in this piece of software, as it'll become an integral part of your flying, as going out doors and flying for real.

I wish you luck and happy flying mate.

Thanks for all the advice guys,

transmitter im using is the default e-sky transmitter that comes with the belt cp.

ile have a look at phoenix sim, see if i can persuade my mother to buy it,. lol

Funny thing is, i blew £1700 on a new computer, with that, i could of built myself a Raptor and had the phoenix, but i came to the decision that i knew that i will crash at some point and would cost more money,
