I've been thinking for a while about changing the muffler on my Vibe but hadn't really done anything about it until Leebert posted last weekend looking for a 2nd hand 90 silencer. That was it, job done, deal made and the MP2 was in the post, so I ordered myself one of these -> http://www.fast-lad.co.uk/store/hato...ke-p-1758.html
It's a Hatori pipe designed especially for the YS90SR engine, like what I've got. Apparently it's a Todd Bennet Special pipe, whoever he is?
Ordered it Saturday, and it arrived today.
I've just starting assembling a TRex 600 last night, so I thought I'd pop into the workshop, spend a few minutes fitting the new pipe and then get on with the Align.
Oh no, not that simple, an hour and a half later, I've finally finished the exhaust!
It's long, that's for sure - about 315mm tip to tip.
The header fits to the engine without any bother - 2 cap bolts, bit of epoxy glue and job done. Then trim the engine cooling duct (on the Vibe anyway) a little, then try and fit the four cap bolts and the anti-vibration bits between the header and the exhaust. Firstly, they're just a tad too short, so had to dig out some longer ones - no real bother. Secondly, getting the nuts on the back of the bolts is a nightmare - you need more patience than I've got!
Also the nuts have a weird tapered and knurled edge to them, which after a couple of attempts (didn't mention this in the instructions!) I realised that the taper needs to go inbound - towards the header so that it grips the metal and you then don't need a spanner on the back to hold it while tightening up.
So a 5 minute job took 90 minutes!
