    naughty ESC

    The ACE 40A ESC (the one they sell with the miniT) on my 450 threw a wobbler.
    flew it, then as I hovered before landing the head speed wavered. Landed and it just made a buzz and wouldn't spin the blades. Lipo alarm still on green so its not the battery voltage (cellpro said 75% on the battery). Cool day so its not the heat (nothing is hot anyway). Disconnected, re connected and its the same. Of course everything will spin frreely, nothing is locking it up.
    12 hours later plug in a different battery and it works fine.

    I think that is a sort of worst case scenario because now I think it might suddenly stop at any time!

    You weren't seeing anything weird happening with the Rx LEDs ?

      all the other controls working normally throughout
      couldn't see the leds

        Really doesn't sound like a belt static problem, then.

        I brought it up because my symptoms seemed like ESC/BEC troubles, and it's fairly cheap & easy to try a cure.

          Let me know what you decide to change it for Gordon as I would like to replace mine also, due to it occasionally cutting out mid flight.
          Must say though I have used that esc in my MT for over a year and it has only recently started doing strange things. Do they have a life span??

            Maybe they do, though there don't seem to be any horror stories in the forums about miniT ESC - plenty about the align.
            It was cutting out in france when I took it out of a hot car and flew it, but after a bit of hovering it cooled down and worked fine (although it was almost 40c in the field).
            I'm gonna test it tonight, so probably arrive home with the 450 in a sack.
            Actually I have a scorpion motor and 55A ESC to fit ready, I should do that rather than carry on .
            Then my medusa motor will be going spare.
